From the Laundry Pile

I was folding laundry yesterday and found that I had washed both a clothespin and a pacifier in the same load. Does that mean I'm a "real mom" now since non-clothes items are appearing in my laundry pile? :) Problem is, I can't blame it on my kids because I only have one and she's not old enough to put things in the laundry pile yet!

Ha! I think it's specific to Mom-hood; my mom used to have a little plastic bowl on a shelf above the washer, and any time she found something in the wash, it went in. There were stones, coins, plastic toys, pop tops, blocks, all kinds of kid "pocket treasures" in there all the time. I forgot all about it til just now- thanks for the nostalgic moment :)

That's kind of funny, Crystal! We mostly have coins and watches that go through the laundry. :)

We have lots of little plastic toys that end up in the washer. And boy do they make a racket in the dryer! LOL!

There are characteristics of Real Moms. One is washing things that are not laundry. Another is attending a social function with a burp cloth still on your shoulder and/or considering spit up to be an accessory. Finally, a Real Mom considers discussion of baby bodily functions to be a perfectly normal conversation topic. We've all been there...

The funniest thing I ever washed and dried was a breast sheild. They are used to protect the clothing when you are breast feeding. It blew up, needless to say. I have also washed chapstick and paper money.

Once when I was 8 or 9, I was horrified to find that my mom had washed my pants with a large pocketful of my new "little buddies"- tent caterpillars! They leave a flourescent green stain, in case you were wondering :)

I just found a slightly warped pacifier in my clean laundry basket; must have been wrapped up in a burp cloth or something... Is it a full moon or what? LOL

I second the comment on the crayons. It happened to me--not once, but twice!! Pray that it never happens to you;-)!!
