I like Spunky! I think her website is great.

I do disagree with this, "The public schools as an institution has declared that there is no God."

Since when? In my public schools religion and God were personal beliefs, they really didn't talk about them at all unless from a purely historical perspective.

I'm starting to see some homeschoolers a bit misinformed about exactly what public schools teach.

If a teacher in a public school told her/his class there no God, she would be in a great deal of trouble.

Ash thanks for the encouragement about my site please consider this scripture:

Jesus said in Luke 11:23 "He who is not with Me is against me and He who does not gather with me scatters"

According to Jesus, anyone who is not gathering FOR Christ is actually working to THWART God.

That's a hard lump to swallow in our "tolerant" age.

God has not given parents the luxury of being neutral in the discipleship of our children. This is includes the schools that we allow influence in our children's lives. Neutral is not an option.

Furthermore, our God also does not make a disctinction of "personal beliefs" in the public arean (this includes education of our children.)

Mathew 10: 32-33
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Accordingly, the public schools deny the existence and deity of Jesus because they do not confess him as Lord.

But consider I am not arguing that they should. I am merely stating that as a Christian parents should not have their children there and we should not be forced to pay for it.

Jesus said in Mathew 18:6 "but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it is better for him that a heavy millstone be hung around his neck and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea."

I do not want to stand before God knowing that I caused my little ones to stumble.

Placing them before a "neutral" teacher is the same thing in my eyes and will cause my children to stumble.

A teacher who refuses to declare that there is a God and His name is Jesus is a teacher and an institution that declares that there is no God. And they are doing it every day and not getting into any trouble. Not even from the Christian parents.

I am not misinformed about what the public schools teach. But I am equally aware of what they DON't teach.

I am wondering more than ever if Christians are misinformed about what the bible teaches.

Public school have more than Christians to teach Spunky. Not everyone is Christian, if you teach one you have to teach all.

Freedom of religion and the choice of for all...

Absolutely Jessica! and in my previous post I wrote

"But consider I am not arguing that they should. I am merely stating that as a Christian parents should not have their children there and we should not be forced to pay for it."

Just because the schools are required to teach it doesn't mean my children will be required to learn it. I have a higher standard to meet than state core curriculum requirements. And that is that my children learn wisdom. That will only come from wise instruction by those that are walking with the Lord.

I enjoyed reading Spunky's thoughts on education. I agree with what she has shared, especially the part about not wanting one's children to be the companions of fools.

To see an article regarding education by Dr. Henry M. Morris from ICR, visit my blog. The commentary is entitled, "True Education."

Thank you, Crystal, for having the courage to address this timely and controversial topic for Christian families today.
