What Have You been Working on?

For all you wives and mothers (and young women, too!): What projects you have been working on to bless your family?

One thing I've been working on is: Staying on top of the laundry and ironing (thanks to encouragement from everyone on here and Large Family Logistics). I have purposed to have all of the laundry done and put away every night and to work a little bit on ironing everyday. I found out that a lot of my problem in accomplishing these tasks was due to my systems. Once I moved my ironing board and clothes waiting to be ironed to a different room, it was much easier for me to pull out and work on a little at a time. Do you know how blessed my husband is to wear starched and ironed shirts to work everyday? A simple way that I can show him I love him and want to honor him.

Hanging and framing pictures. I also want to make our office more of an office so we can do more freelance work from there.

My brand new couch came, and I've rearranged the furniture to kind of separate my living room into a reading/lounge section and a tv section.

I've been (finally) catching up on sewing my 10-year-old's Girl Scout badges onto her vest!

I've also been going through old clothes trying to figure out what to save as hand-me-downs, what to give away, and what is so worn it needs to go in the trash :).

We just bought our first home and we are going to be moving there soon, so I'm working alot on that. I have 2 daughters and so, I am quilting them princess quilts for their new bedroom (they are 3 and 1 and a half). So, I've been hand quilting them in the evenings and am hoping to get them done. I am also going to make them princess curtains with some material I found!!! Busy home here (as always)!!!

I finally changed my system for house-cleaning! Lol...I bought the Motivated Moms book a few months ago but the jobs for Thursday & Friday just weren't getting done due to outside work and commitments so this week I just added a few extra jobs to the other days and now here it is Thursday and I have only 2 easy things left to do on Thursday's list and 1 on Friday's list! Yay! I can truly relax on the weekend and enjoy my DH's company! :)

We are 9 days from a major move to Minnesota so I have been: Telling everybody else what to do. :-)

Actually, I have been tossing, giving and sorting our "things" out. We are moving to a much smaller home (I am soooooo thankful for this!) and am planning on doing some of the projects that I have bought stuff for and actually DOING them! Baby is coming in March and so I want to get things organized as much as possible before that time too.

Let me add too, that if it wasn't for my lovely 17 year old daughter Lauren, I would be the most unorganized mother on the planet. She is a blessing beyond words!!!

I've been working on our new fall schedule. Emphasis on WORKING. :-P (So far it's not coming together though!)

Had to chuckled about your dh's starched shirts. Back when my dh was newly military, I ironed his uniform for him for his first day in it. When his CO inspected his uniform, he asked dh if he had ironed it himself. Dh said, "No, my wife did." His CO said, "You can relieve her of that duty." LOL!!!! Evidently I may have ironed it, but they wanted it PRESSED. LOL! I never was able to get them to military standards, so my dh started doing it, and boy, lemme tell ya, those pants would stand up on their own they were so full of starch!

(Now he gets to wear jeans and Dickie shirts to work - yay!)

Well, I suppose you could say that learning to sew bodices and fitting them is benefiting my family, and my future family. I've been having so much fun sewing with my Mom, but this is a really tough project and I only just started as a begginner sewer!

I want to do more!

I've been helping my mom & dad to clean out their garage (and being blessed by receiving some items that they don't need/want anymore), doing my brother's laundry (he blesses me in return by fixing my car when needed), learning to cook creatively, and discussing books and life with my dad about every day. I'm so blessed to have such a rich home community!

Trying to get some organization to this house!! I have been giving things and throwing things away left and right. We bought one closet organizer for my girls' closet and if it works the way we want it to we are going to buy another for the boys' closet. I am also trying to set up a homeschool room that is neat and organized. Right now I only have my preschoolers and I see a lot that needs to be changed before I bring my 2nd grader home at Christmas and my 5 year old home next year.

i have switched my clock a bit so that i can be up in the mornings with my hubby. i am such a night owl that getting up before 7 was really hard for me. so, now that i am getting used to it i am able to make him b-fast and lunch and spend a few quality moments with him before he starts his day. this is a huge blessing for him and it blesses me just knowing that he is eating better now. the hard part is getting to bed on time. one step at a time. sometimes necessity is a great motivator.

There has been several projects that I have been working on to bless my family. One is a complete organization of our home. My hubby is retiring from the AF next year and I want to get rid of alot of stuff before then.
I have also been blessed with Kim's ministry through Large Family Logistics. I have been working on making my home management binder.
I just finished menus for the entire year. That is a huge blessing!

I'm just trying to figure out how to keep this disaster, I call a house, clean. I have just been so tired with this pregnancy and since George started walking, I feel like all I do is pick up after him. I really just need some energy. I have a feeling I'm becoming anemic. I really get inspired reading all the stuff you guys write. I feel like I'm reading the memoirs of the Energizer Bunny.

"I feel like I'm reading the memoirs of the Energizer Bunny."

This cracked me up. Thanks, Zan. Despite having a whole list of things to do, I've done barely anything this week because I've been really sick with this sinus/throat/laryngitis-clone thing. So, I've accomplished sitting in bed with a laptop and tea, and perfected the art of taking naps with cats. My ultimate goal is to be well during our vacation, for which we're leaving on Saturday.

But last week I did a ton of canning and freezing, made a dress, rearranged our TV room, and thoroughly cleaned the kitchen (which is now dirty, since I've been in bed).

I am working with my hubby on a new business project. The past few weeks my free time has been consumed with it. Since it is not complete, I can't tell you the details.

On Fridays I was trying to scrapbook with my 15yo. Actually she did lots of scrapping and I organized all our stuff. I hope to get some scrapping and sewing done in a few weeks.

Laundry/Ironing suggestion - we fold laundry together while we read aloud in the morning. One of my daughters likes to read aloud, so I iron while she reads to us. I finally caught up ironing my dh's shirts.
