How Many Loads Do You Do Per Week?

"...It sounds like you do a lot more laundry than we do. I do 2-3 loads per week (excluding diapers)... although they are decent-sized loads...Do you really have that much laundry, or do you like to do smaller loads?"
I do about 2-3 loads of laundry on Monday (I wash bedding on Monday), and then about 1 small load Tuesday-Friday plus a diaper load (we only have 6 Fuzzi Bunz diapers, so I usually have to do a load almost every day). So, I guess that would make about 6-7 small-medium loads of laundry per week, plus diaper loads.
I thought it'd be fun to hear the ratio of people in your home to the loads of laundry you do per week.

fiance and I do about a load each a week, plus any bedding/bedding/towels in one load. We are very organized in this way so that we always have clothes for every ocassion. Fiance also is touchy on how he wants his shirts washed and hung.
I do 4 to 5 loads a week starting on Monday. Two darks, One Whites, One Bedding.
Today I started with our darks because hubby needed some clothes for work. I may do another load this evening depending on how I feel (cough cough). Tomorrow I'll take care of the babies clothes and either tomorrow or Wed. I'll wash our bedding. I make sure that I have full loads each time so that I'm not wasting energy/electricity. It takes the same amount of energy and electricity to run a small load as it does a large. I've got to make the most of it!
We probably average about one-two loads a week (plus any delicates that I handwash). Since we're just two people, we don't have much laundry; plus, like pinkology, I prefer running a large load because of the energy and water involved. So except for the towels and underclothing, I kind let the laundry "build up." :)
Oh my! I think we must have a lot fewer clothes than everyone else or something. I have to do laundry every 3-4 days or someone won't have something to wear! I don't like for it to pile up. In fact, I've gotten so ambitious with laundry that I like to have nothing in the hamper when I go to bed-- meaning all laundry is washed, dried, and put away.
There are 7 people in my family. I did 3 medium/large loads today (Monday) and then try to do one a day Tues-Fri.
So that would average 7-10 loads a week. (adding in bedding/towels)

It's just my husband and me, and I do about 6 loads a week. They are good sized loads, too, not small loads.
Because we have 3 large dogs and 1 cat who all live in the house with us I have to do quite a bit more laundry than I would normally for a household with only 2 humans in it. I do 4-5 loads of clothes(we don't have a lot of clothes so I must wash them more then once a week or we'd run out), 1 load of dish cloths and dish towels, 2 loads of bedding(I must wash the comforter each week too because of the animals)and I usually have a load of dog-towels to wash along with their bedding(the cat's too) so I guess that is about 8-9 loads a week. I don't wash my husband's dress shirts because we have found that they last longer if we send them to the dry cleaners.

We have 8 in our family and I average about 10-12 loads per week minimum.
We break our laundry down by family member..
Monday - mom and dad
Tues - Girls
Wed - Boys
Thurs- towels and leftovers from the week
Fri- Beds.
I say we do about two loads a day Mon.

I do 2-3 loads a week, not counting diapers.
Dh is from a not-very-developed country ;) where people don't have the luxury of being persnickity about what they wear and how long they wear it, and he thinks it's foolish to put clothing in the wash unless it's really, actually dirty. With his outdoor work clothes, I sometimes have to plead with him to let me wash them--his logic: why make them clean when I'm just going to go out and cover them with mud and sweat again? LOL!
The benefit for me is that I don't have so much laundry to do, so I'm not complaining.
We have 9 in our household, and we do 8-10 large loads/week.
But we are sparing with our laundry: several girls share beds (less linens), we each have a personal towel that only gets washed as necessary, etc.
I do my brother's laundry as well as my own, which comes to 4-5 loads per week, plus an occasional load of at-home dry cleaning in one of those plastic bags that you can put in the dryer. I use a clothesline for everything else, & he irons his own shirts.
I have three hampers. One for me, my husband and the baby, one for the three other boys and one for towels, sheets rags etc. When one gets full I wash a load of laundry. It is usually like 3-4 loads a week I think.
Woh! I can't imagine doing that much laundry!! The washing machine must be going full-time.
kudos on the organization though...
OK, so there's four of us (three of whom are boys, which I personally feel has an impact on the laundry scene) and I do 9-10 loads of laundry per week!
There's a reason for this, though - my husband works in construction, so he's usually pretty dirty at the end of the day. Also, he goes to karate twice a week, and if those clothes aren't washed right away, they stink permanently.
we have 9 people in our family and do anywhere from a load a day to 3 loads a day. So I would guess we average out to around 14 loads a week. We have 4 boys working all the time and they get very dirty!

Neat topic, thanks for the post about it :)
I like to have the hamper empty, too, but... didn't you read that article you linked to about how it takes the same amount of time to put away one dishtowel as it does to put away 10? ;)
I don't know that I have a ton of clothes... most things I wear two days unless they have gotten really dirty somehow :D
We have 6 in the house and run about 9-10 loads a week. This includes bedding and towels. We have a standard front loader machine, for Europe and tend to run the loads full.
To save energy I use as low a temperature as possible and a short wash unless clothes are very dirty. The solar powered dried alias the washing line saves us loads in the summer and an overhead dried can dry up to a load a day in the winter.
Crystal, I had a small number of diapers for one of my children. If you can get more second hand so you can run a full load, you will save in the long run.
Five Loads a Week for my husband and me, breakdown as follows:
1 load -- my clothes
2 loads -- husband's clothes
1 load -- sheets
1 load -- towels
And true confession time: I always do my clothes AND the sheets and towels. My husband is technically in charge of his own clothes but I often do his just to be nice. Don't tell the feminist authorities -- they might revoke my fem. credentials if they find out!
(We also spend a small fortune in drycleaning, one of the costs of a two earner household.)
I do at least 7 loads per week excluding diapers for 3 of us. My husband is a mechanic and also spends a lot of time building/fixing houses/cars/etc so there is always a stack of laundry that is truly dirty/greasy/smells of wood smoke or all of the above! :)
There are 9 in my family and we do probably 4-5 loads of laundry per day. (That doesn't include sheets.)
Now that most our five children are grown, they each do their own laundry--averaging 1-2 loads per week each. They own many clothes so wait to accumulate big loads, thus, clothes don't wear-out. They do their own ironing. My youngest daughter (15 years) washes the bathroom rugs each week and irons my husband's shirts and pants. My youngest son (10 years) does two towel loads per week (colored and whites). With my husband's and my clothes, he adds his and folds and puts his own away. I am grateful that our children enjoy taking responsibility for their own clothes. This makes for burden-free laundry for each of us. (:
We currently have 4 in our family, plus 2 dogs. I do at least one load of laundry Monday through Saturday, excluding Wednesdays. So, at least 5 loads per week.
We do about 2 loads 5 days a week, sometimes more if we have bedding etc. We have 9 people in our family.
I thought you didn't do very much wash at all, Crystal! In our family, we do probably around 15-18 large loads a week. Then, we have a larger family than most of you are washing for. :)
I do my own laundry. I do three loads a week. It's three loads because I seperate by color or um whites, jeans/jean items, and colors. Although when I dry I can put it in two dryers. So that helps a bit.
I'm no amatuer either. My dad got married once and there was 8 in my family. My job was laundry, wash, hang on the line, and fold. Try differentiating clothes betweeen a 7 year old and 8 year old. Not fun.
When I get married I would seperate by color not person. I guess it just makes more sense to me. I still only plan on washing clothes once a week and having a clothesline.
I'm in the process of making my own clothes. I'm anywhere from a 0-4 petite. Which means when I do find clothes that fit, they aren't black, and I like them (aka non hoochie mama clothes) they are usually 2-4 times the price of the same article of clothing that anyone else can buy. I love it. Right now I'm working on a Civil War dress. I have to renaissance dresses and I'm working on some Edwardian clothing as my next project. The price is about the same and sometimes cheaper.
fyi: historically pantaloons and petticoats weren't to be seen either they are underwear and used just like todays underwear. They are only longer so as to keep the wearer warmer during winter months.
Pet peeve of mine to hear when a person puts their little girl in pantaloons so they can be active and if their dress flips up nothing is exposed. Pants have their place.
Dh and I have 5 children (8, 7, 5, 3, 1 - since size of clothes does make a difference in how many clothes you can fit in a load LOL!), and usually we have 1-2 days a week when someone leaks out of their pull-up in bed. :-P So on average we do about 10 loads per week (no diapers).
