Cherish Your Children!
Read this touching post by Holly.
Remember, the dishes and the laundry will still be there when your children are grown and gone. So will all those "ministry opportunities." Make time to take time. There are a lot of good things in life, but there are only a few things which are BEST.
I'm off to read and play with my little princess!

Important advice.
I agree....
But sometimes it bothers me to hear so many cautions about getting involved in ministry. I realize many mothers are out "ministering" when they should be home "mothering" (just being keepers of the home. I also see very many self-centered homes. They are too busy with family to worship with the local body of believers. Their children never get to serve others because they are so focused on their own family.
I have four children and am home most of the time. If I do "ministry", we all do it together. Our ministries include: cleaning our church-we all get in and work
visiting the elderly or sick-the kids love to make cards and gifts for those we visit
inviting people to our church or just sharing the love of Jesus through friendship, etc.
baking and cooking for those in need
getting involved anyway we can with the activities in our church (we have very few of these)
I, in no way, feel that our "ministry" has hurt our family, if anything, we should do more. I wish mothers could learn that "ministry" does not mean you dump your children off somewhere so that you can serve. Children are valuable in the service of the Lord. And when I say the service of the Lord, I mean in every moment of our daily lives! At home, at work, at church, at play, the library, the park, the grocery store, etc!
I am hugging my four tightly today! We're all REALLY enjoying our 2 weeks old baby boy!
Thanks, Crystal, for standing strong for the family and for the vital role we as woman have in our homes! May God bless you!

Bessie: Ah! I love it. Yes! That's the kind of ministry I love to hear about.
Oh, and how precious to have a newborn. I'm getting awfully anxious for another one... especially since almost all of my friends are having babies, it seems like, anyway! All in God's time!
Bessie: I liked your whole post but this quote I especially liked!

Have any of you seen the old sampler stich about "dust will be there etc. etc... but I'm rocking my babies to sleep and babies don't keep". I vaguely remember it and smile when I see dust but I'm too busy playing basketball with my two year old or doing "Duet Wheels on the Bus" with both boys.
