Housekeeping is Fun!

"But housekeeping is fun, and I think the women who hate it lack imagination. It is one job where you enjoy the results right along as you work. You may work all day washing and ironing, but at night you have the delicious feeling of sunny clean sheets and airy pillows to lie on. If you clean, you sit down at nightfall with the house shining and faintly smelling of wax, all yours to enjoy right then and there. And if you cook---ah, if you cook---that creation you lift from the
oven goes right to the table."

I feel best at home when I have just cleaned and everything feels put together.

Housekeeping isn't fun when you have a toddler and another on the way.

Maybe when the kids are older and can help out or not inhibit your progress... I had a very bad day to day...housekeeping.

I just don't even seem to make a dent in the mess in my house.

zan,

I feel your pain! I didn't have a very productive day today, either. I have two children so far, very active boys at that! The oldest will soon be 3.5 and the youngest is almost 22 months. It seems I never make a dent either! I get one room looking really good! I move on to the next and before I know it the first room is in need of being organized/decluttered/cleaned again!

I try really hard to enjoy housekeeping, but it can be quite overwhelming. Of course, that could be because I don't keep up on it as I should. My two daughters also make it difficult at times.
I do love the feeling after I have cleaned the house...so refreshing and I feel quite accomplished when I am done.

I have my ups and downs with housekeeping. I love the feeling of sitting in my clean house - sometimes it's just hard to get motivated to really clean it.
I've found these websites really motivating on the housekeeping topic:

http://genuineprofit.lifewithchrist.org/
and
http://www.flylady.net/

I like to clean bathrooms! They smell much better, and there is something satisfying seeing the toilet come clean!!!
But as for the rest of it, I cannot say I really enjoy it, but I get it done as fast as i can.

I do the cleaning in my family, although I only spend about 4-5 hours a week on it, usually on Saturday mornings.

I sometimes wake up on Saturday mornings dreading it, but if I've lined up all the items I need the night before along with something to wear it's not so bad. The worst thing is to wake up to a messy house and realize that you have no clean clothes or that you don't have 409 or whatever you need.

If I'm at least that organized and can put on some good music, it's fun and cathartic and you can see the results as you go along.

Oh- and sometimes I get bored cleaning so if I'm not in a hurry, I reward myself for each task I accomplish. So once the bathroom is done, I might allow myself to blog for 30 minutes or read a chapter in my book or what have you.

i also like the results of my housekeeping :) there is no feeling so good as going to bed with the kitchen immaculate (well, perhaps if the entire house was immaculate, that would be an even better feeling :)

like martha.a, i like cleaning bathrooms because it is the room where i can always tell a huge difference when i'm done.
