Mothering Never Stops
This post by Carrie was so good. I wholeheartedly agree.
I love hearing the viewpoint that "I homeschool my kids because I like my kids!". Some parents can't wait until their kids start school so they can get them out of the house and couldn't imagine homeschooling and having kids "underfoot" all day. I love reading about people who love their children and want to invest their lives in them! I want to be that kind of parent. I want to view the children God gives us as precious, as an opportunity to learn and grow myself as well as teach and help mature them. I want my children and my husband to know that I never want any career other than to be a godly wife and mother; that they are precious to me and that I want to invest my life in them. I want to be with my family, teaching them and learning together.

Concerning your post several previous to this on discipling children: I love hearing what you are doing with Kathrynne! I have for a few years, thought that I would do similar things (read the Bible and grown-up Christian books that I would be reading) with a baby when I have get married and have children, Lord willing. I never heard of anyone doing that except for you, so thank you for writing about it! Most parents read only simplified things that toddlers are supposed to understand, but I think if we "feed" them with more mature literature as well, they will appreciate it sooner, and grow up to love it and understand it.
amen.
It is easy to be judgemental of other parents when you have such limited parenting experience. Trust me, one young infant is the EASY part! When you have several seasons of motherhood under your belt, then you can comment about other parents intentions. By the way, I do homeschool my children, but it can be challenging at times. When you get to this stage, you wll do yourself good to prepare for a day here or there when you want to throw inthe proverbial towel! Good luck!
Thanks, Crystal - it made my day to know that someone I respect thinks I'm not crazy and perhaps even that I'm correct! :) I sometimes feel that we are the minority in "real life" and I appreciate all of the encouragement and support I get from you and others.
Renee, thanks for your encouragement! God bless you! I have wonderful parents who always read us the Bible from birth, so this was not something I came up with on my own. :)
Anonymous, we young mothers need all the support and encouragement we can get. We are just trying to do our best. We have a lot to learn, but we want what's best. :) I've actually heard from many moms that it was a lot harder to just have one infant. I think there are things which are harder and things which are easier -- of course, I don't know for sure, but that's just my limited perspective from my experience growing up in my family, talking to many moms, and working with many families as a mother's helper.
