Just for the fun of it!
Just for MM and all those other people who find it interesting when I go things like this, I'm doing another meme (you are the first person to call me an "icon," so I guess I better oblige!):
What were you doing 10 years ago?
How am I supposed to remember that long ago? Let's see. I was 15, bound and determined I was going to finish high school early so "killing" myself to finish all my projects and subjects early (All my lost sleep didn't avail to much, Mom and Dad decided I had to graduate at the normal age of 18. Oh well!). I had just started teaching violin lessons, was working on getting my driver's license, and had had my first wreck (A head-on collision with our garage door -- I know, don't ask. It wouldn't have been so bad except it was Mom's first time to ride with me. Needless to say, she didn't ride with me again for another two years and I have forever earned the title of the worst driver in our family!)
What were you doing 1 year ago?
I was a brand-new mom, fledgling blogger, happy wife and homemaker. Trying to figure out how moms of eight survive and wondering what it felt like to get more than 3 hours of sleep at a time.
Five snacks you enjoy:
1. Crisp Pink Lady apple wedges
2. Hot tea.
3. Almonds and raisins (my husband thinks this is really weird.)
4. Good chocolate (not the fake stuff which you buy at the grocery store.)
5. Coffee.
Five songs you know all the words to:
1. Most of the Christmas carols (how can you not learn them!?)
2. Most hymns by Fanny Crosby (we had to memorize hymns almost every week growing up and she is one of Mom's favorites, so we did many of hers.)
3. Maybe 30% of the other hymns in any traditional hymnal.
Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
Give more money away to others, buy a TREO for my husband, take my husband to Europe, maybe shop somewhere other than thrift stores (just maybe!), buy a minivan (or, maybe the silver PT Cruiser I've always wanted -- I doubt it, though. I'm a bit too practical for that!).
Five bad habits:
1. Staying up too late which results in sleeping in too late.
2. Forgetting to eat.
3. Forgetting to exercise.
4. Not allowing enough time to get to places on time (working on this one!).
5. Getting easily distracted.
Five things you enjoy doing:
1. Playing the violin.
2. Cooking.
3. Talking to my husband.
4. Spending time with my husband and daughter.
5. Reading a good book.
Five things you would never wear again:
1. Colors not in my pallette (such as black or brown or orange!)
2. Cowboy boots (unless it's a life or death matter!).
3. High-waisted anything (unless I'm pregnant!).
4. Leg-warmers (My mom always put those on me as a little kid!)
5. Glasses (unless you catch me at home before my morning shower!)
Five favorite toys:
I don't know -- Maybe my computer and blog? Don't really have toys or hobbies outside of entreprenuerial-type things.
There you are -- more than you ever wanted to know about me! Now, if you do this on your blog, leave the comment for the rest of us. And, if you don't have a blog, you can leave your answers in the comment section.

You and I have some of the same bad habits!!!
Hi Crystal!
I answered the questions over on our blog if you'd like to check it out. Thanks for the fun questions!
~Amy
We love pink lady apples too. : )
Very fun to read...I like posts like this! : ) And I'm with you on the cowboy boots...YUCK!!! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks they're ugly!
~Your little sis
I did this on my blog too...a fun diversion:o) Thanks!
I don't have a blog & I only recently discovered this site. (I love it, by the way. I don't have any Christian friends & this site has been a real blessing & encouragement to me. Thanks Crystal.) Anyway, since I don't know any of you very well, I loved this post b/c I'm hoping to get a bit more insight into all of you.
As for me...
What was I doing 10 years ago?
Unsuccessfully trying to find meaning in my life. Working for the approval of others as a freshman in college. And finally, a lot of other things that I would like to forget!
What was I doing 1 year ago?
Anxiously awaiting the birth of my first child! Setting up the nursery, etc.
Working at being a godly wife and mother-to-be.
Continuing to discover true meaning.
5 snacks I enjoy:
1) coffee/tea/diet coke
2) doughnuts (I know, but I can't help it.)
3) sour patch kids
4) chocolate dipped in peanut butter
I've decided not to fill in #5 b/c the above list has made me realize that I only have about 4 minutes until my first heart attack.
5 songs I know the words to:
1) anything by Sara Groves
2) most Christmas carols
3) The Star Spangled Banner
4) many lullabies
5) anything by Tony Bennett
5 things I'd do w/a million dollars
1) donate to worthy causes!
2) give needed money to extended family
3) take a romantic vacation w/my husband
4) redecorate
5) hire a housekeeper - not for the day-to-day stuff, but for big, occassional tasks (spring cleaning, cleaning ceiling fans, etc.)
5 bad habits:
1) drinking too much caffeine
2) losing patience (note to self: #1 & #2 might be related!!)
3) worrying too much about staying thin/outward appearance
4) taking on too much
5) being too particular about the orderly-ness (is this a word?) of my home.
5 things I enjoy doing:
1) singing
2) making my baby laugh
3) building up/encouraging my husband
4) reading
5) subtly influencing others for Christ (considering that most of the people I know are not very Christ-centered)
5 things I'd never wear again:
1) ripped up jeans (high-school was a scary time for me fashion wise...yikes!)
2) a banana clip
3) a terrible red nightgown that I have that covers me from head to toe. My husband has been begging me to throw it out; it makes him call me "Mrs. Claus"
4) Hand-me down maternity clothes...some of it is great, but some of it has been handed down one two many times.
5) short skirts
5 favorite toys:
1) the internet
That is it. I'm not really into blackberries, IPOD's etc..
Looking forward to other responses!
:)
Crystal, Im so thrilled and honored that you took up my humble tag! :) Thanks! So fun. I see that we share love for Fanny Crosby and respect for our color pallets in common... I am a "spring," so ALL I wear are browns and orabges...- I take it you may be a "summer?" :) :) :)
And PS- in liturgical traditions, "icons" are effective symbols which provide instruction, and assistance in the grace of "envisioning" something of heaven- what your blog-testimony does for me! :)
