Of Pregnancy Tests and Funny Stories
With that kind of title, someone might get to thinking I have something to announce. But, this post is not not about any pregnancy test I took but about my friend Becky Miller's hilarious pregnancy test story. Go read it yourself.
I laughed out loud reading it (which is something very uncustomary when I am reading something to myself!), then proceeded to recount it to both my mom and my husband, and thought I should link to it here as well (Hope you don't mind, Becky!).
By the way, congratulations to Becky and her husband -- I know I already said it twice, but I'm still so happy for you. :)

You don'have to post this, but I'm a little confused. It seems this person is doing so many things you have previously spoken against. She is working outside of the home, she has a male boss, etc. Am I missing something?
Crystal, thanks for the link! I'm so glad it worked out that way for me to have such a funny story. And the crisis pregnancy center thinks it's wonderful too - they loved it that it's my test on the front of their new brochure!
Anonymous...thank you very much for your concern. My job situation has been a subject of much prayer and debate for me and my husband as well. Since God started showing me last year how many of my ideas about womanhood do not line up with His word, I have been making changes in my life. One of those changes was to be open to God's gift of children, and He has blessed us with a great gift!
I have considered my working outside the home extensively as well. I absolutely plan to stay home with my baby when he/she is born (and my husband agrees with that). I personally would LOVE to stay at home right now and start "nesting," but my husband wants me to keep working until the baby is born. As a contract database programmer, he doesn't get health insurance, so my health insurance through my job is how we're paying for the prenatal care and delivery. I am obeying my husband by working right now.
Prayers for our situation to change and for me to be able to stay home right now would be GREATLY appreciated!
Well, probably what you are missing is that you don't know me. :) I have lots of friends in many different circumstances with many different beliefs and I don't judge them for where they are or what they are doing.
Also, I believe strongly in progressive sanctification. Due to Adam's fall and our current degraded culture, we can't all be living in "ideal" situations, but we can all be striving for the "ideal" and learning along the way.
Becky is one such example of that. She and her husband are seeking the Lord and the Lord is leading them and maybe she isn't exactly where she ultimately would like to be, she is joyfully submitting to her husband and she is exactly where God wants her to be.
Thanks for sharing, Becky! I meant to respond right as soon as I posted this, but you beat me to it. :) I appreciate your wonderful testimony. It's so refreshing to me. Keep on, keeping on!
Becky,
I hope you understand I wasn't in any way judging you or looking down on you. Before I had kids, I worked for many male bosses and thought nothing of it, nor did my husband. If we were childless, I would still be back in the workforce. My comment wasn't in any way directed at you, nor was it in anyway meant to be judgmental. It was simply for clarification purposes. I was a little confused because the impression I have gotten from this blog is that no woman should work out of the home and especially not for a male boss. Then, when I read the post, it seemed to be promoting that. The only reason I posted was to try to understand what seemed to me as being contradictory. Again, no judgment was intended (for you or for Crystal).
