Free Girl's Clothes
I have a box of many like-new baby girl’s clothes, shoes, jacket (size 9 month to 2T). Many very cute and nice things – all of which we were given and aren’t going to use. Most of them have Winnie-the-Pooh on them and we’ve decided not to have our daughter wear clothes with fictional characters on them (our personal conviction – nothing against you if you feel differently!) but if you don’t have a problem with fictional characters and could use some nice girl clothes, they are yours for the taking. Email me if you are interested.

Hi,
Was just surfing the blog's and came across yours. Very nice. My wife and I have a 4 yr old boy, and he is a joy and gift of God. We might know someone in our church that might be able to use some infant girl clothes. Are they still available? My blog is: http://pilgrimjourn.blogspot.com Your website is very nice too. Prov 3:5-6 Thank you. The Gann's in Missouri
Could you explain how you came to your decision about not having Kathryn wear fictional characters? I'm curious as to your reasons, rationale, etc. Also, does this mean you don't read her fictional stories?
I am interested in the reasoning behind not letting your daughter wear clothing with a fictional character on them...does this also extend to cartoon pictures eg teddy bears etc that are not an established character, but more generic. Also what about toys that are characters, like winnie-the-pooh toys or more generic dolls and bears etc?
We, too, don't care for characters on clothes. Generic animals (frogs, bears, bunnies) didn't bother me but I didn't want my sons to wear superman, spiderman, etc. etc...
Until... NOW
And my DS 2 year old has definite preferences. He LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine and prefers to wear Thomas shirts. We've also broken down and let him wear an Elmo shirt that I got on sale. Until the Thomas addiction hit, I was FIRM in my conviction but he's just so funny now.
Since we're pretty picky about what we expose our boys to, I didn't feel bad about the Thomas thing.

I'd actually love to hear why you don't want to let your children wear clothing with characters. While we haven't gotten rid of any clothes (off the top of my head I can't think of any we own, though!) featuring Winnie the Pooh or other cartoon characters, I can think of a lot of reasons to avoid them.
I did this with no characters or pictures on clothing for my first boys. Do you have any idea how hard that is? It was awful! I decided that trucks, airplanes, and stuff that was real was okay. I just do not feel like I want them to run around with the latest craze of a TV character that they probably have no clue who it even is on their shirt. I didn't want them to grow up thinking they have to have this certain brand or this certain style, but it is okay to be different and to wear simple clothing.
I didn't mind winnie the pooh as much as usually the stuff is on baby stuff is sort of old fashioned, but not in the older children. I worked hard for several years to fix clothes, and finally am still strict, but they wear some things on their clothes, but mostly like fire trucks and the like!
