A Tightwad No Longer

Thanks to the motivation from these comments, I caved and bought some vitamins.
Now, let's hope they make a difference because I've never spent so much on something so little. I can buy a whole week and a half's worth of groceries with that amount so they had better be good! I could use some Supermom boost right now, though.
If you've used these and they don't work, please don't tell me that -- I already bought them! But, if you've tried them and had good results, you can send the rave reviews my way. At least I'll feel good for doing something for my health. When I asked my husband if it were okay that I buy them, he said "Yes, but are you going nutty?" I think he's a little worried I'm losing my sanity since I'm usually such a tightwad.

I'm interested to see how you like these. I would love to buy them for myself but I took too much Vitamin B6 when I first started teaching (was supposed to give energy... one is good... 5 should have been great, right?) and gave myself a bit of nerve damage. So any large dose of B6 (or large amounts of black eyed peas and other b6 carriers) sends me climbing the walls
Please let us know whether they work. I could definitely use more energy!
I cringed when I saw the price though, so I'll wait for your reviews. :)
I ordered some of these today also. I can't believe that you find them outrageouslly expensive. Compared to the GNLD vitamins that I have been taking these are saving us a fortune! I had been praying and asking God for answer to vitamins. I have to take something as I am pregnant but I couldn't bear to spend $150 for another months worth from GNLD. When No Greater Joy came in the mail last Friday I didn't have time to sit down and read it but I flipped through it quickly. On the back cover was a letter from a mom that could have been me. Pregnant for the 4th time in 5 years and feeling like I can barely keep my head above the water. Rebeka recommended Supermom vitamins and when I looked up the price online I broke down and cried and then ran outside to tell my hubby about them. I will let you know how I feel. ~Diana http://www.xanga.com/islandlife
I got these last week! I love them already and have felt tons better - hope you do too! You get 90 servings for the money, so I felt that, as far as vitamins go, it wasn't too bad a deal. Blessings,
Yes, please let us know how you like them! I saw these recommended by Rebekah Anast in my newest issue of NGJ and was thinking of getting some. For future reference . . . I did a little research online and the ingredients are the exact same as in the NowFoods Special Two vitamins, which I was able to find at www.wholesalesupplementstore.com, for $19.79/180 tablets. Not sure what their shipping price is like, though. I haven't ordered any yet, but hope to soon!
It's only $.34 a day to better your health. Hope they work!
Wow- I spend about 15 dollars on vitimins and I thought that was extravagant! (Anon- 150 dollars? Really?) But if they actually work, I might be pursuaded to spend more. Can't wait to hear how they work for you!
wow...seems a bit pricey for vitamins. Having worked in that field, can I ask what is in them?
If you are looking for an energy boost, I can think of many ways that are less expensive.
Jes
Diana -- Considering the fact that I really never buy vitamins and the most I've ever spent if I've bought then is a few dollars, these are quite expensive for me. :) I am so glad that God answered your prayers with these and I hope they are very helpful for you!
I think one has to be very careful because there are a lot of overpriced nutritional things out there. I respect Rebekah Anast and know that the Pearls would not recommend something which was a rip-off. I also researched these out to make sure they were actually whole-food vitamins.
Duchess -- Thanks for the info. I hope I'm the same way!
Frugal Homemaker -- What vitamins do you take? How many months does the $15 last for?
Carrie -- Thanks for doing the detective work! I wouldn't have known where to look. If I like these, I'll try ordering from that link you listed. Less expensive is always good. :)
Jessica -- it's a 3 month supply, so it's only about $10/month. We'll see how well they work. You can read the ingredients on the link I posted. I prefer to get as much nutrition from food as possible, but I feel my body has not been getting enough recently, even though I try hard to eat well. I think some of it has to do with my body being sort of depleted due to nursing. I have not taken vitamins the whole time I've been nursing, and I really should be. But, if you want to send some energy-boosting ideas my way, you are more than welcome to. :)
Crystal-
I take calcium and a multi vitimin. They are off brands I bought at Wal-Mart. My husband and I both take the multi, and I take calcium twice a day- one in the AM, on in the PM. My pharmacist said that I could not absorb the amount of calcium I was taking if I took it all at once. He also told us to buy off brands- he said name brands spend more time making the vitimins look fancy with coatings, flavors, etc, and less on the actual minerals. (I'd love to hear what others think about that!) It lasts about a month. I know I feel different when I don't take my vitimins for awhile, so I know they do something, but I've nver felt all crazy super energetic or anything, so if these make a huge difference for you, I may try nicer ones. Can't wait to hear how they work for you!
Funny - I also just read about these (in NGJ magazine) and looked them up online yesterday. I already take vitamins, which are generously paid for by someone else, so I'm waiting to hear more about these. Be sure to post once you've tried them!
I'll be curious to know if you "detox big time" like Rebekah mentioned in her testimonial.
Crystal,
I'm sorry I never answered your question during my blogathon...it was hard to keep up with the comments!
I am glad you found some good vitamins. I have always taken a good prenatal vitamin, important when there is a chance of getting pregnant, and also when nursing. I am taking Rainbow Light brand right now.
Last year I had some serious health problems, probably related to stress and hormones. I take a B complex vitamin, some extra iron, milk thistle, gingko, Dhea, vitamin C, and valerian and magnesium at night. I also use progesterone cream. Being young, you might be able to get away with just taking your multi-vitamin.
I also eat fairly low-carb, which made a big difference in my energy level.
I thought about trying these vitamins, but I have such trouble remembering not only to take the vitamin, but to take it at the right time. Do any of you have trouble with that?
I also have trouble taking regular multi-vitamins as I cannot take iron, my iron is too high naturally and any added to it makes me very sick. It makes it hard to find a good one so I usually just stick with calcium and Vit C. Have any of you found a favorite calcium that actually works and is not outraguously expensive?

Crystal - I've been looking for a good vitamin, too. I'm nursing, too, and just ran out of the last of my prenatal vitamins. I know I need to take something - I have a lot of issues with anemia and such so these look really good to me. My only concern is about the detoxing - is that safe while we're breastfeeding? I did an extensive search and all I could find is "ask your doctor." My doctor is wonderful, but very ...traditional. I figure he'd probably say "spir-what?" and tell me not to try it while I'm nursing. But my baby is just 2 months old - so that would be quite awhile to wait and that's if I stop nursing before getting pregnant next time. So...I was just wondering about your thoughts.
You can get NOW FOODS Special Two Multi Vitamins 180 Tabs (best value - 90 day supply) at www.bodybuilding.com for $17.89 a bottle. Their shipping is also $5.99 no matter how much stuff you get. I compared the ingredients to SuperMom Tabs, and they're 100% the same. I'm going to order Now Special Two Tabs from boybuilding.com is a few minutes. I was on this site ordering something for my brother, and just happened to notice they sell NOW FOODS stuff too. How convenient!
I too ordered SuperMom tablets after reading the article in "No Greater Joy." You are supposed to take 2 a day, so I started slow and took 1 a day for 3 days and 2 a day for another 4. I had only one of the detox symptoms listed on their webisite (www.beeyoutiful.com) and it was disappointedly fatigue. My fatigue probably increased double and I felt drugged. Detox is only supposed to take a "few days" so I would think taking them a week is a good enough trial. I had really high hopes. Is it ironic that a vitamin that is supposed to give you energy would make you feel worse? I was willing to live through extra fatigue, but it doesn't seem to be getting better. I am thankful that they have a money-back guarantee. I would recommend that anyone try it based on their guarantee, because all bodies are different. I am happy to hear that they have helped some people!
If anyone is interested, I posted a report on the www.welltellme.com website, which is operated by the owners of www.beautiful.com which sells SuperMom tablets!
I don't know if this link will work below. If not, you can search for the thread "SuperMom Tablets Caused Major Fatigue"

I received a kind and helpful response.
I am expecting our third baby this month. My older boys will turn 2 and 4 next week. Yes, that's 3 April babies in 4 years. I asked my midwife about Supermom and Special Two, and this was her e-mail response.
"I looked at the ingredients and I am very comfortable with you taking them. They appear to be very closely in line with our supplements to consider.
I would be comfortable with you starting now. The "detoxing" she probably felt had to do with the Pysillium Husks / Hulls and it is more of a get all that is already in the bowel / intestines out than "detoxing" agent."
I hope this helps those of you concerened about detoxing while pregnant or nursing.
Tryed and really liked the supermom vitamins, they did give me more energy, not more than coffee though!!!lol Anyway, i am going to buy some more today , it was worth the money, definately well spent!! I did not detox as she did and i also noticed that i had to keep up on my vitamin c/b supplement~~emergen-c and take a little viactive calcium at that time of the month, or i would feel a little blue.
If you want a supplement that really works and has "all natural" ingredients why not try Juice Plus" www.juiceplus.com/+kh29544. For just $39.95 a month for a 4 month supply you are taking 17 different frits and vegetables which will "naturally" give your body the energy, stamina, vitamin and nutrients needed in order to function each day. While I was pregnant it was "THE" best prenatal vitamin I'd ever taken. And it's the only supplement I will ever take for the rest of my life "should the Lord tarry". Also, if you're interested in getting this same product free in chews for a child, then email me at the email link on the website listed and I'll be happy to tell you how that can be done. Supermom vitamins are "man made". Juice Plus+ is natural and made by our Creator. I highly recommend that!
I read the recommendation on the Super Mom tablets around six months ago or so and tried them, they work great! They have really worked well for me, when nothing else has. I have alot more energy and feel 100% better than I did. And if I forget to take them, I notice that I don't have as much energy as when I do. They're the best vitamin I've ever tried(and I've tried quite a few)
My ob/gyn reviewed the contents to see if the Supermom would be viable prenatals. She was surprised that they were the most complete vitamin that she had seen, and that there were no synthetics. The vitamins include were in sources that the body can readily use, not bypass straight to waste. The only recommendation was to take extra iron when used as a prenatal. I use Hemagenics iron as it is water soluble. My Doc is a Christian and will start to recommend these vitamins in her practice.
I'd like to hear your final take on these. I only took one a day to stretch them longer and then did not reorder.
I have bought the SuperMom vit and I like them for the most part but I am still having major morning sickness. Thank goodness I haven't thrown them up. I looked at the NOW Special Two and there is a BIG difference if you are a pregnant mama. You are not supposed to take ginseng if you are pregnant and they contain it. SuperMom uses green tea extract instead (a very small amount). Just wanted to address that,
