The Answer to the Mystery
Since I don't want our mom readers to lose any more precious sleep tonight and since I really think most of you have better things to do than check my blog every 15 minutes, I guess I'll just have to tell you the answer to the mystery.
For those who are still scratching their heads, the correct answer is:
I'm going to be an A-U-N-T!*
Yes, that's right! My beautiful, talented, almost-perfect sister, Brigette, and her husband Eirik, are having a baby.
Only problem is that they live in Taiwan right now and so I won't be able to see Brigette when she's all big and pregnant. Since my sisters had such a fun time poking fun at me weighing 25 pounds more than them when I was 9 months pregnant, it's only fair that I get to see her in all her preggo glory, don't you think? Especially since it will be the only time since she was three that she will weigh more than me probably! Oh well, at least I'll get to see her this Summer. (For those who don't know me and my sisters in real life, we are constantly teasing each other about who is skinnier and who is fatter, don't ask me why! Ah, sisters!). And, poor little Wang-Ching (or was it Ching-Wang or Ding-Dong, Brigette? Those Mandarin names are so confusing! No offense to the Chinese and Mandarin-speaking readers out there -- I'm sure you think American names are very weird.) won't get to see his aunt and uncle and cousin until he is a few months old...
But, inspite of all of this, I am very, very happy to finally be an aunt. I was the only sister not to be one and I've felt a little left out. :):)
*Go read the first clue and look at the first letters of each verse and it should make sense, now. :) Oh, and my apologies on the second clue if you pronouce "aunt" differently than we do in the Midwest. I'm pretty sure our pronunciation is correct. ;)

Congratulations Crystal! Being an Aunt is wonderful, I love it. I have a niece and two nephews and they are total treasures. I was curious as to why your sister and her husband are in Taiwan??
Take care!
Leigh -- they are serving in a Christian school in Taiwan teaching music. They are also very involved in ministering in a local church (Eirik leads the music, teaches Sunday school, and has been preaching some as well). It was very clearly God who opened up the doors for them to go to Taiwan just a few weeks after they were married. It has been a wonderful experience for them, but we sure do miss them!
That is neat! I have one nephew and 2 nieces and it is alot of fun.
We don't tease each other about our weights although they give me a hard time about mine alot. I guess they think if you are slender it is okay to mention it alot? Someone the other day was telling me a dream they had that I weighed 120 pounds. I was laughing because thatis what I weighed 9 months pregnant.
By the way, we are in the west and we say Aunt that sounds like ant!
Oh me - I never would've guessed. I've been THINKING about it all day though ... and scratching my head.
That's exciting though! I love being an aunt. My 2 nephews and 1 niece are going to be here in about a week for a 2 week visit! I'm looking forward to that.
Sorry you won't be able to be around her... There's always pictures though! Sara will probably have won the 'contest' for us, since she had twins. Though, with 3 sisters, there's always the chance that one of us might too so we'll see how it plays out.
Congratulations! I am going to be an aunt too. My first niece or nephew will be born in August. I am glad to share my excitment with someone else. LOL!!!!
only 25 lbs crystal??? I gained 65+!!!! baby #3 our son was 11# 23 1/2" long!!! congrats on being an auntie!
That is wonderful Crystal - Congratulations!
Yeah! I love being an aunt. I became an aunt to 3 when I married my husband, then my sister had a little boy last August. We don't have any of our own yet, so we really enjoy being with the nieces and nephews when we can. Congratulations!
Crystal~That was clever! I could not figure it out...but then I went back and saw the first letters..heehee!
Anyhow, congrats to you. Have fun being an aunt.
Blessings,
Sommer
LOL I'm laughing here, I didn't even notice A-u-n-t-! Congrats!!!!!! Being an auntie is special. :) I have 1 niece and 1 nephew. :)
Again congrats! That was a great riddle!!
Very exciting!!!
Now that my little sister is getting married in three days, family members are teasing the two of us about who will have the first baby. I hope I win:o)
That's great, Crystal!! I'm sure you will enjoy being an aunt, even though they won't be as close as you would like!! :)
I'm an aunt for the first time also!! My sister is due in October. Congratulations!!!
Morgan
Congratulations to the auntie!
I am an aunt of two nephews and two nieces, one each from each of my brothers. :) It is very nice that one brother lives down the road from us...almost a stone's throw, but I can sympathize with overseas "aunting" too. My second brother is a missionary in South Africa. It is hard when you get attached to the kids, and then have to send them back, or go home yourself. With adults, there is always phone and e-mail, but you can't talk to little kids on the phone (at least very intelligently!). Thank the Lord for digital pictures and video clips though...they are certainly our lifesaver! And even though it is hard, especially for the grandparents, we know they are in the center of God's will, and we wouldn't want them to do anything else.
Rachel
Congratulations! =) At one point today, I thought, "You know, probably Brigette and Eirik are expecting a baby...that would make sense with ant..."
But I couldn't think of how the theme of the other verses could possibly fit in (and never went back to look at them!).
Hooray for you! and DUH for me, did I NOT see it? Gosh, you really had people stumped!
Congratulations! I am the niece to two amazing kids, and I enjoy every minute of it! I like being able to spoil them rotten and hand them back:)
Yay, I was right!
I feel silly about not getting the first clue. I guess I was reading into the verses more than just the first letters. It was a fun way to announce the good news. How long have you known, anyway? Your family must be the masters of secret keeping.:)
You'll love being an aunt...I know from experience. Congratulations!
You're going to love it! I love being an Aunt! My sister in law was also out of the country when she had her first child, so we did not get to see her in person, but she was sure to send pictures like crazy.
Awww! That's awesome!! Congrats! :D When is the baby due? My nephew is due in September, my sis-in-law is so cute with the little....er, big, belly! I can't wait to meet little Jude Steven! :D
Congrats! I think that was one of my guesses(?)
I hope it won't be too long afterwards until you can see the new little one.
~Jaclynn
Congratulations! I can sympathize with your long-distance woes. My sister lives in Australia and has gone through two pregnancies, but I never got to see her tummy either. I have not seen my niece since she was three months old ( she's now 2) and my nephew was born in February. It is fun to put packages together for them, sending them things that she missses from the U.S. We also enjoy a lot pictures through email.
By the way, my sister at nine months pregnant looks like me at four months pregnant. She did not even have to wear maternity clothes until 25 weeks!
You'll have to show the ladies (including me... YAY!!) who got it right in order :o)
And congratulations! I too enjoy being an Aunty.
I got it! Woo Hoo!! *grin* You'll have to show who got it in order. Have a good time being an aunty... it's great fun.
My sister is also pregnant and lives 2.5 hours from me, we have opposite schedules, so it is hard to get a chance to see her. :(
Isn't having a sister great?
And, your sister is beautiful!
Yay! Congrats to you, Crystal, and to your beautiful sister and BIL. And whooppee, Kathrynne is going to be a cousin! I will definitely be praying that your sister has a wonderful, enjoyable pregnancy and birth.
Wow!
I would've NEVER gotten that!
Congratulations!
Congratulations to your sister!! I guess I was trying "too hard" on your mystery because the acrostic seems obvious now. =D
I hope her pregnancy is going well so far.
My sister and I tease each other about our weights too. =P
~Samantha
Congratulations Crystal. Brigette assisted at one of my births and was such a dear sweet help. It is exciting for me to here that she is expecting. So what month is she due?
