Are You Smiling?
During my quiet time this morning, after I had read God's Word and spent time in prayer, I was writing in my journal and contemplating what specific things I could do today to be a help meet to my husband.
As most all of you know, Jesse is under a tremendous amount of pressure with studying for finals and the bar (for those who don't know, in law school, finals are 100% of your grade). In addition, he has two very large projects to finish up and he had to make a presentation on his 20-page paper in class today. Add to that his job and his responsibilities as husband and I'm exhausted even thinking about it.
In thinking about practical ways I could be a blessing and help to ease Jesse's heavy burdens, the Lord put it upon my heart to do everything I can to bring joy into his life by smiling and seeking to make him smile.
It is so easy for me to get caught up in everything that must be done in a day, that I forget to stop and just smile at my husband. What a difference a simple thing as a smile can make.
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..."
If you haven't done so today, stop and smile -- smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at your neighbor. Smile and spread the joy of the Lord to those around you. It will be infectious!

On our fifth anniversary, I was asking my husband what more I could do to be a better wife to him. I had been quite stressed as of late, because I just couldn't seem to keep up with the housework, laundry, etc. I told him I felt like I was a poor excuse for a wife. His reply astounded me. He said he didn't care about the messy house. What he wanted was for me to be happy and not so stressed about the current disorganization of our home.
Amen to that Crystal!!!!
I wish I could smile at my hubby, but it's hard to do it via computer with him in Iraq. :-)
Jesse doesn't have too much longer now till he finishes up. I know it will be a huge relief when it's all said and done. :-) You all should go out to eat and celebrate!
My husband received his bachelors degree at 43,He was under lots of stress. It was hard for him but he did have a supportive family-when he graduated our children were 9 and 13.I can't even imagaine the stress Jessie has-WOW for all of it.
Smiling does help!!Good post. When Chris did graduate we received a "degree" for being a supportive family.
Thank you for the reminder, Crystal! Sometimes I get so caught up in my daily activites and what I need to accompish each day, that I forget to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Smiling is a God-given talent that all of us have to give! I just need to use it!! It's amazing how smiling at someone can just make their day!
this could sound funny but make sure he is eating enough food. this is when guys put appetites on the back burner and they need the calories to stay focused and energetic.
sometimes i literally have to make my husband sit down to eat and if he won't I bring the food directly to him... just a thought, this is what i found with my hubby.
hang in there. don't feel down if you feel like you are getting a little less attention too, i stuggle with this sometimes... just being 100% honest.~smile~
When my hubby is really busy at work i think well, "what about me"... doesn't he miss me or care?
Well that is when i pull up my boot straps and bring him that food. he loves it and we get a few minutes to talk. even leave your darling daughter with grandma and surprise him to show you support him with a nice lunch or something. you might only be able to hand the food to him and give him a kiss, but it will bring you guys together that day during this very busy time...
xoxo
