Daddy's Little Princess

Jesse took Kathrynne shoe-shopping the other night and, since Mommy wasn't there, Kathrynne came home with her very own pair of Nikes and a fruit smoothie from Daddy's favorite fast-food restaurant. I just had to laugh. If I had bought shoes for Kathrynne we would have gotten an off-brand, on sale from Payless. But, Daddy's can spoil their little princesses every once in a while, don't you think?!

That sounds like something my husband would do too! Sounds like they had fun! I have alot of fond memories of spending time with my dad on shopping trips like that!

Dear Crystal,
Bless your husband's heart for caring so much, enough to buy Nike's even!

Kathrynne is becoming such a sweet child. Her love for that little baby in those pictures! What a blessing!

Kathrynne is so cute!! Her shoes are adorable.
I remember shopping trips with Dad were so much more fun than with mom because he would let us get things that mom wouldn't! It brings back good memories!

That sounds like my sweet hubby too. We have 2 girls and they are daddy's little sweethearts. Thanks for sharing the picture and the story.

I think part of honoring our husbands is gratefully supporting occaisonal splurges like these. It's his way of showing his love, and is (as you mentioned) something only a daddy can do!

Frugality is both a tool and a lifestyle, but learning to loosen the purse strings occaisonally and savor the rewards of hard work (and gifts from God) is equally important.

Humbly,
Wendy

It's so fun to go shopping with Dad! :)

Last time he took me to the grocery store, we walked by the donuts, and he stopped and got some! Not something Mom would normally do. :)

Due to the moldability of children's feet, our family has always considered better and/or professionally-fitted shoes to be a worthwhile expense, especially for everyday shoes, as opposed to, say, once-a-year Easter dress-up shoes. Although this is a cute post, there is an underlying tone of complaint re: your husband's choices that was a bit off-putting. He may consider these shoes worth the extra price, as opposed to being an indulgence.

Liz: Thanks for your honesty -- I read your comment to my husband and he said that he understands why you might think that, but the reason is because you do not know me in "real life". :) I had him read this post after I had written it to make sure it didn't seem in any way like I was belittling his choice. He thought the post was very funny -- we had both been chuckling all evening over the shoe-buying incident! I love my husband to pieces and I am glad that his tastes are different than mine and that he would prefer to get something more expensive which will usually last longer. I love it that he cares enough about me and my daughter to want to buy us high-quality things. It is just so funny to us how polar opposites we are about certain things. :)
