From a First-Time Mother-To-Be
Dear Joshua/Katherine,
You've been a tiny person for fifteen weeks, growing steadily inside me, but even before you were conceived, God knew you. He knew the perfect time for your conception, He knows the perfect time for your birth, and He has a perfect plan for your life. He knows every intimate detail of your body as He knits you together in my womb, while your daddy and I don't even know yet if you're a Joshua or a Katherine!
We feel honored that He let us be a part of His creation of you, and we are amazed that He's going to let us be a part of your training and development, even as He molds you into the person He wants you to be. We need to remember, and we need to remind you, that even though we've been a part of your coming into the world, and we'll continue to be a part of your development, ultimately, you belong to Him. When you are born, we will dedicate you to God's service, just as Hannah dedicated Samuel, and as our parents did when we were born.
I am in awe at being part of the miracle of your creation, and your existence and growth have confirmed to me everything I've believed about the value and sanctity of life from the earliest stages. As your father often whispers into my belly, "Daddy and Mommy love you, little one!" And God loves you more than we ever can. Thank you for making this my first Mother's Day. I can't wait to meet you!
Love, Mama

I know I'm biased, but this brought tears to my eyes.
