A family in need of prayer

Blog reader, Tami, asked me if I could post this:
Our good friend Steve Huisman was killed yesterday in a plane crash in Tampa, Florida. Steve's wife, Sonya, and four young children (ages 1 to 8) are grieving the loss of their husband and father. Please pray for Sonya, their children, as well as both families.

Steve was an incredible husband and father, who was wholeheartedly dedicated to his family. He was passionate about the Lord and the Church. He was a great friend to my husband and to many other men.

Steve was a missionary pilot who trained at Moody Aviation. He and Sonya moved to Florida to serve with Agape Flights, where Steve flew missionary support flights to Haiti. More recently, Steve was flying for Dynamic Aviation. Steve's memorial service will be on Friday.

We are still in shock about Steve's death, but we trust the loving, mysterious providence of God in this situation. Please pray for grace for Sonya and the children- that they will continue to feel God's love and strength as they mourn the loss of their husband and father.

My son works at the local Dynamic Aviation facility here in VA, and he came home this week telling us about the solemn staff meeting held telling the employees about this horrible crash. The FFA was on the scene the very next day obtaining records and asking questions. Many were torn up over this situation, and of course were wondering if it could have been their fault with not getting something exactly right working on the plane.

The Lord knows best, and we are in His hands until we have finished the work He has for us to do. We do pray for this dear family.

Thank you all for your concern- I will post an update on my blog tomorrow.
Deb- I have spent the past two days with Steve's widow, and their family. God is giving them much grace. Please encourage your son and his coworkers that Steve's family believes that Steve's life was in God's hands. Our days are numbered by our loving God before we are even born. Thank you for sharing your part of this story.
