Hi Crystal! If you have time, would you consider posting on Father's Day celebration ideas? I'm at a loss, both for gift ideas & for ideas to creatively celebrate my husband. I want to honor him in the way he deserves, but all of the ideas I have are so boring. Thanks! -K
Well, since I'm not really the queen of creativity and my brain has been rather mush recently, I'm opening up the floor for any and all ideas. What are you planning to do to honor your husband/father this Father's Day? What about great ideas that you have done or have considered doing?

I have tried to become a "studend of my husband", paying attention to what HE likes, not what I would like if I were him! :-) One of his favorite things I can do for him is make good food...so I'm working on a fun menu of items I don't often make! Other than that, I'm still trying to figure out what else to do, and looking forward to others' comments!

Dear Crystal,
Here is a link to a post that I wrote about my husband last Fall. It might give your readers some ideas on how they might honor their own husbands this Father's Day. (I have one friend who read this and told me that she was inspired to sit down and write to her husband.)

You could do "breakfast in bed" on Father's Day-- My hubby really likes this one-- also you could let him give you the "menu" for Father's Day lunch, and cook whatever his heart desires!
As the oldest in a large family, I've always taken over the job as "Chief-card-maker" to make a card for Papa for Father's Day that everyone signs. But for his last birthday, we each made a small page (half-sheet of standard paper) decorated it, drew a picture, or copied a verse or poem or a note to Papa. Then we made 2 covers out of cardstock and "bound" it with holes punched through all the pages and threaded with ribbon. Old calendars, nature magazines, and wallpaper sample books are great for supplies for this project.
Of course, this worked out well with a large family of 11 children - lots of pages! ;) If you have a smaller family, you could each make 2 pages, or add more pages about things you appreciate that he does for you and your family.
This year, I decided to buy a gift, too - I bought him the book "Ten P's in a Pod" from timberdoodle.com about a large family in the 1940's that evangelized on the road. I'm also going to sew a simple slipcover for his much-used but quite hideous footstool. :) Hopefully, this might give someone some inspiration of their own. :)

Here are a couple that I have provided for my customers:
King for the Day
Give Dad the royal treatment he deserves for Father’s Day with a present he’ll never forget. Start with his favorite place to relax: the hammock, a lawn chair or the recliner in the TV room and build his throne. Then equip it with everything he needs to feel like “King for the Day’.” Set up a side table with all his favorite foods and drinks, including a bucket of ice to keep them cold. Use duct tape or clamps to attach an umbrella, a mini fan and a comfortable pillow. Create a royal crown out of golden yellow construction paper wrapped around his favorite hat and labeled #1 DAD. Make sure essentials are within reach: the remote, the newspaper, the fly swatter and a back scratcher. But don’t forget the most important thing of all – a handy bell to ring for service. This will make a great photo for your Father’s Day Book and every year the rest of the family will have fun building a better and better throne.
You’re the BEST Dad Ever
Every year ask each of your children what they love most about their dad. Write their answers on little cards cut in the shape of a man’s tie. They can be made with a variety of colored construction paper and embellished with stripes or plaids. Your children will have fun hiding these cards in places where they are sure to be found in the morning..inside Dad’s favorite coffee mug, underneath his shaving cream, on the door out to the newspaper, etc. He will wonder why everyone is watching him so closely as he starts to pour himself a cup of coffee that next morning. After collecting all of his Father’s Day notes of appreciation, you can collage them into the Father’s Day Book with your annual photo of surprise as Dad discovers one in a place he didn’t expect. This is a tradition he will really look forward to each year.
The ABC Book abcS
A great way to let Dad know how much you love him is to create an ABC Book. This is a perfect activity to do with small children who are learning their ABCs. Make a small book (6 x 6) with 26 pages and a cover of card weight paper that is decorated with your child’s artwork. An easy way to assemble it is to punch 3 to 5 holes on the left side of each sheet of paper, stack them together, then lace ribbon through the holes and tie it at the top. Ask your children to think of things they love about their DAD or activities they enjoy with him. Find something that corresponds to each letter of the alphabet. For example, A is for Angel games. (‘I love going to Angel games and eating hotdogs with Dad’) Use a ticket stub, a photograph or your child’s drawing to adorn this page. Older children can work on this together with the younger ones to create a gift Dad will cherish forever!
Also here are a couple of neat things to have the kiddos fill out each year for dad:
