I almost thought I had a stalker. Everyday for the past few days when I've checked my stats, the same individual was on my site. I was becoming a bit concerned, especially since it was from a nearby town. I finally told Jesse and he investigated and found out it was me. No wonder they were always on when I was and no wonder they lived close by. Oh I can be so blonde sometimes!
Jesse, Kathrynne, or I misplaced Jesse's glasses yesterday and we spent a good part of the morning searching for them. To no avail. We even dug through the trash (ick!). With a little toddler around, you never know where an item might have gone so you have to check a lot more places than usual, just in case. Needless to say, Jesse is getting new glasses today. At least he really needed new ones anyway and we had a coupon for free lenses from a local place so it wasn't too costly.
Am I the only one who really likes flip-flops? Sorry, Rebecca, I even wear them to church sometimes (at least it's not sweatpants, right Carrie?). Don't tell, but all the girls in the bridal party wore flip-flops to my sister's wedding (Hey, the bride picked them out and bought them for us, it's not like we had a choice. She wanted to have us all go barefoot but my parents wouldn't go for it. Probably wise of them!). Personally, I don't have a problem with "naked feet" in summer. Now, other "less-than-clothed" styles, I do take great issue with. I guess I like to pick my battles. Flip-flops aren't one of them. But no, I wouldn't wear them to the White House. Maybe my next poll should be on whether flip-flops are feminine or not. What do you think?
Speaking of polls, if you've not taken the poll yet, please do so. I'm having so much fun following the results! Very interesting indeed.
Thank you for all the sweet tea recipes, helpful hints, and input. I worked up the courage to try my hand at being a Southern woman and actually made sweet tea two days ago. Believe it or not, Jesse loved it!
My big news of the day: After almost 11 months in Taiwan, my sister, brother-in-law, and my niece or nephew-to-be are safe and sound in the USA again. I can't wait to see them -- just a few more hours! My sister and I are really close and we've never been a part for this long since, well, ever (unless you count the three years before I was born!). I only wish they weren't going back to Taiwan in another six weeks. But, I have to trust God's leading in their lives. I can't always get my own way!

I wear flip-flops YEAR-ROUND!! I love them, even when it's really cold outside. I might be bundled up all over the rest of my body, but my feet are almost always naked. :-)
That's okay. I don't mind if you wear flip-flops to church :). It's not a moral issue.
Love your blog!
Sorry Crystal, I agree with you on a lot of issues, but flip-flops will not be one of them anytime in the near future.
Just to clarify though, unless I'm too out of the loop and missed the point, I don't mind backless *leather* strap sandles that 'flip flop'. But if you're talking the now 'fastionable' plastic variety I see in church, at the store & all over, NO WAY! eewwww!!!
Yup they belong on the beach, not in church.
:D I don't wear flip flops because I don't like anything between my toes. I have one pair that I wear when I go out to water my plants, and as soon as I get in, they come off!
As for you poll, I'll give you my answer here: I read your posts through bloglines, as you post them, and visit your actual site when I post a comment.
Love flipflops! Go, Crystal. Even W**mart has ones that are more "spiffy" than plain-old rubber ones. As to wearing them to church, why would people be looking at your feet? As long as one is modestly dressed, I say "go for it!" But one caveat-- no chipped polish on flipflopped feet!
How can you tell where someone is from as they are reading your blog? How can you even tell it is the same person?
Oh, by the way, I wear my flip flops everywhere in the summer. And I wish I could in the winter, too. I love bare feet!!! Do you think Peter and Paul dressed up to preach? Just wondering. I bet they were all in there sandals! :)
Stalked by yourself. I love it!
Flip-flops are wonderful!! Every year I can't wait for summer to come so I can stop wearing shoes. ;-)
I read your blog syndicated on LiveJournal, and I check my LJ friend's page every day, so I voted that I visit your blog every day. I hardly ever comment, but I do read several of your posts!
And LOL about flip-flops! No offense to anyone else, but I think flip-flops rock! I wear practically nothing else all spring, summer, and fall long - and in the winter I still wear them, around the house. ;) Well, I don't usually wear them to church on Sunday morning, but I do in the evening, because our evening servies are always very casual.
And I like your poll idea! That would be interesting. :)
In Arizona you're looked at as crazy if you're wearing socks in the summer, unless of course one's job requires protective footwear. Tucson is a pro flip-flop community.

Oooh...I LOVE my flip-flops...the next best thing to going barefoot all the time...which, sadly, is not a wise thing to do! And I think that they can be feminine...obviously there are some that aren't feminine, but they definitely are quite a few that ARE!
And that's so wonderful that you get to see your sister soon! Sisters are so dear...
Hurray for flip-flops!! I wear them althe time when it is warm.
I can relate to children and lost things.
Sissy has thrown away my cell phone...twice. Luckily it was rescued both times.
We thought she had tossed the remote to our new DVD player, but two years later when I pulled the big cooler our for a picnic, can you guess what I found inside? :)
Hope I don't lose any blog readers over the flip-flop comment. Please know it was all tongue-in-cheek! I'll probably look back when I'm old and grey and much wiser and be embarrassed about wearing them so much!
BessieJoy: Yes, I can track all visitors to this blog -- where they come from, where they live, what pages they view, how long they are on. Basic facts so that if anything suspicious takes place, I am able to track/ban visitors. (Never had to do that, but you always have to be careful in this techno-savvy world.)
Oh and I forgot to mention that all of this "tracking" is very easily done through adding Sitemeter to my blog. I also have stats on my website control panel that I access periodically as well.
Crystal, that's hilarious about your "stalker"! Glad you have nothing to worry about! :-P
I'm not a fan of flip-flops at church not because I find them annoying or ugly, but because of the casual spirit it implies. I guess I'm pretty old-fashioned. But like Rebecca said, it's not a moral issue.
"I'll probably look back when I'm old and grey and much wiser and be embarrassed about wearing them so much!"
lol You will. But that's ok, we'll love you anyhow. ;)
I were flip-flops all the time here in Texas, we have had 100 two 110 weather just about every day for the past three weeks. I have found ones that do not make alot of noise and look nice. I think what shoes you were does not matter as what is in your heart does matter.:-)
Here's how I view it: when one totally, absolutely, no-question-about-it *must* wear shoes, then flip-flops rule! But otherwise -- BAREFEET!!!! :) However I don't like flipflops for church... I wear a sandal-type "slide" instead.
I hate flip flops becasue I hate something between by toes!
LOVED your stalker story... LOL!
Hi! I enjoy reading your blog when I have a few minutes. I was wondering why you would not wear flip flops to the White House? I would not only because I would be going before the highest authority in our country and that would not be the proper place for them. It would not be very respectful. How much more should we show respect to our Great God when we come into His house. So for most of the week I will enjoy my jean skirt, T-shirt, & bare feet. Let us consider how we may bring Glory to God and also show the lost world what kind of God we serve. -sister in Christ
Love the stalker story! That is SOOO Funny! haha
I put a sitemeter on my one blog that I use for my home business to see where people come from and how they got there. So handy!
And here in Texas we were Flip Flops YEAR round cept for the once in a while cold weather that hits us.. ( never) haha They are our shoes! One in every color.
I Love them, yes and wear them to church. :-D
Here's how I view it: when one totally, absolutely, no-question-about-it *must* wear shoes, then flip-flops rule! But otherwise -- BAREFEET!!!!
EXACTLY!
i grew up wearing flip-flops everywhere. Well probably not to church, but you know the main reason why? They are cheap, children are always losing shoes at my mom's house (one of her grandchildren thought when her mom said Grandma's house eats shoes she thought Grandma was eating them) and it was that way growing up. You save money on shoes and socks.
I don't wear them now as a adult because they hurt my back, but I will wear sandals.
I can relate to the glasses thing! My husband will be half asleep and place his glasses in a "safe" place and it is so hard to find them! He also has a habit of when he empies the garbage just to double check if he sees something that may have been a mistake in
the garbage. Especially if you have a garbage can with a flip top lid! They love those!
Hi, Anonymous!
The White House statement was a tongue-in-cheek reference to the story I linked to in the post. If you didn't click on the link, it probably didn't make much sense. :)
Crystal, I don't know about Sitemeter, but on Statcounter you can set it so that it won't show your own visits. Which I know because I too had a "stalker scare" after I first put it on my page!
And for you flip-flop lovers out there, have you seen these? They're the BEST! So comfy!
Ann
Your stalker story reminded me of my own "blond" story. I was at work one day, trying to call another department to let them know that an airline ticket was ready to be picked up. Every time I would try to call them, my other line would ring, so I would have to hang up and answer that line. Each time I answered, no one was there! After an embarrassing number of attempts, I finally realized that I was calling my own extension. :)
