Doing a yogurt happy dance

Not to brag on myself or anything, but I just had to tell you that I actually made yogurt. I followed Rebecca's recipe here (Thanks, Rebecca!) and it worked! I made a whole entire gallon of it with fresh raw milk that Cheryl got for me.

Kathrynne woke me up early this morning and I just had to pop into the kitchen and check it in the oven. Lo and behold, it was real yogurt, not the runny, milky stuff my last yogurt attempt created. I was so excited that I bounded back into bed and woke Jesse up all excitedly to tell him, "My yogurt worked!" I don't know that he was quite as thrilled, but he managed to pull off a very nice response inspite of being jolted out of a deep sleep.

Isn't it a beauty? Looks like we have our acidophilus fix for awhile!

I was so inspired that my yogurt turned out that I made whole-wheat cinnamon raisin biscuits for breakfast (above), chicken tortilla soup for dinner, and cleaned the entire kitchen up - all before 8 a.m. Hmm... maybe I should try making yogurt more often?!

All....YAWN.....I can say...zzzzzzzzz....is.....YOU GET UP TOO EARLY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!! hee hee. Of course, if I got to bed BEFORE 1 a.m., then perhaps I could wake up early and "Be All I Can Be" before 11 a. m. :-)

P.S. I am glad the yogurt worked out....I am thawing a gallon of milk today and think I will use the same recipe.

Yes, but remember that I only have one child who is now sleeping through the night most nights, plus taking a nice nap or two everyday. We should hope that I would have something to show for all the free time I have compared to so many other women! :)

I'm very impressed. I have to ask though, how do you do all of this w/Kathrynne? Does she play by herself the whole time or is she still asleep?
My son is such a sweetie, but I would never be able to make all of those things w/out him requiring my attention every couple of minutes.
Just looking for a tip or two.
:)

I must say that all of the schedule samples you posted over the summer have really motivated me and I am proud to say that this fall my husband and I have turned over a new leaf and have been faithfully getting up by 5:30am to have devotions and breakfast together and when he leaves for work I am able to get so much accomplished b/f my children wake up....this is great preparation for my homeschooling adventure which starts next year with my oldest...=)YAY!!! Life is great!

Good job! I wanted to mention that I tried your tip about making up a big batch of pancake or waffle batter, storing it in the fridge and then cooking it up fresh in the mornings. It's been working beautifully and my kids love it! Thanks! :)

Heather: Don't worry, you're not alone. My husband knows a lot about certain bloggers I read who don't even know who I am. Blogging is interesting in that way! :) That's so wonderful about your new schedule! I'm proud of you. Like my mom used to always say, "There is gold in the morning hours."

Kristen: Yes, I'll get the recipe posted soon. I tried to find it one the internet and couldn't (aren't I lazy?!).

Anne: I'm glad the tip was helpful! :)I'm always a little embarrassed to post tips seeing as I'm such a newbie wife/mom/homemaker myself and have truckloads left to learn! Thanks for your encouragement!

Hey Crystal,

You've got lots of neat things to share! I'm amazed at all your great ideas and as I remember you mentioning, you've had lots of experience as a mother's helper and big sister.

Though I think you are wise not to speak too much about parenting stuff since your own little girl is so young. I'm sure glad I didn't have a blog when my first one was a baby. God sure knocked some of my preconceived notions right out my head about parenting over the last six years!

I've been helped by your computer/business information- thanks for that too! It's been enjoyable getting to "know" you from your blog for over a year now.

I may really not hold to some of the specific convictions that you do, but I appreciate that you have a desire to seek out and know God. :)
