"She looketh well..."

This was a very thought-provoking post by Mrs. R.:
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27We all need to be reminded of this often, myself included. It is so easy for me to sit down at the computer for "a quick few minutes" whick turns into much longer than that. I encourage all of us to take a look around your home before you sit down to read, or blog, or knit, etc.
This verse has really been my inspiration this week. The phrase "She looketh well to the ways of her household," tells me that the Proverbs 31 Woman was continually looking to meet her family's needs. She was focused on her household.
Before I begin to do something I ask myself, "Does this activity help me to look well to the ways of my household? Am I indulging in a pleasurable activity for me while the needs of others have not been met?"
If I know that someone needs a load of laundry done, the kitchen is a mess, or the house is in disarray I need to take care of those things before I set down to blog, read, or craft.

Many activities can be considered honorable but not always profitable(some can become idols...been there, done that).
I met a sweet sister in Christ online that lived geographically isolated and so desired fellowship on her One Day at a Time website; over time posting became somewhat required of those that sensed God leading them differently than she believed best for the site along with her needs and those she believed for others. The same thing can happen within the home where chores can become burdensome in short order(to the keeper at home first and then it can unfold to include family).
As the years have passed for me, God has ever aware of being His workmanship(how easy to take the lead rather than follow when it comes to Bible application toward wisdom and being conformed). Abundant life in Christ is one of balance and rest: He has to be the One to Whom we yield(rather than any work originating with self, seldom the intention initially when desiring to be all that we can be in Christ Jesus). Therefore, isn't it His best for His children to not have extensive lists of what "I should" and/or "I will" accomplish today(anyone else overwhelmed with the rigid and lengthy structured lists on the Nanny TV program?). Rather shouldn't we be sensitive to needs He graciously illuminates one step at a time. Yes, those without vision perish yet His yoke is easy and the burden light when we have a sense of walking moment by moment in Him and with Christ in us, correct? Maybe it is just in this home but the minute I resign myself to absolute needs believed able to be accomplished for the day, God shows me a different and very relative way.
The intent is to be encouraging so hope others know what I mean???
Because of Jesus,
JOYce :-)
