A garage sale, pumpkins, and sleep

Thank you to those of you who prayed for our garage sale. We survived and were completely amazed at how well it went! The weather was truly perfect and the traffic to our sale was incredible! It was basically all my friend and I could do on Friday to keep up with all the sales and watch the four little girls (Kathrynne plus her four little girls). I experimented and brought most of my extra coupon "stockpile stuff" to sell - toothpaste, deoderant, shampoo, etc. To my great delight, we sold out of basically all of it within two hours. It went so well that we went and bought more on Friday night plus I scoured all my shelves and cupboards to see if I could come up with anything more. I brought two more boxes of stuff on Saturday, priced it higher and it was again gone within two hours! Our other items sold very well, too, - we only had a small box of stuff to load up after the sale!

We left the sale early on Saturday afternoon and headed to a nearby pumpkin patch and apple orchard that we had been hoping to make it to the last few weeks. Despite being somewhat tired (especially magnified by the fact that Kathrynne had hardly slept the previous two nights due to teething one night and overtiredness and a lost pacifier the second night), we managed to have a really fun family time picking pumpkins. I took a few cute pictures which I just tried to post, but Blogger is giving me fits, so I'll try to do that later today.

Saturday night we wanted to come home and "crash" but we decided to get the house cleaned up (I didn't quite get the tornado effect cleaned up from my mad-dash garage sale preparation ealier!) and get things ready for church in the morning (since it takes us an hour to get to church and we bring food for the lucnh afterwards, we try to have everything ready for church Saturday night to make things easier on Sunday morning. Regardless, though, we seem to always walk into church 10-15 minutes late. Oh well! I guess our long drive can be used as a bit of excuse, but I'm still determined that someday I'll get my act together enough that we make it there on time!). When we arrived home from church late yesterday afternoon, we finally did crash, though. We all went to bed around 6 p.m. and slept until early this morning! Finally, rest for the weary!

We travel approx. a half hour to get to church. What my husband did was work out exactly how long it takes for us to get there + the time it takes to park and get the kids out of the car + the time it takes to get the kids to their nursery or Sunday school class, add to that a little extra to be safe and then he set a time for when we need to leave. All I had to do was work out how much time I need before his set departure to have everyone ready by then. And with this system, we've never been late yet. In fact, it has been mostly opposite and especially in the evening, we are always rather early.

Great job on the garage sale! I'm so glad it was successful! You know what? You've inspired me to have one myself.

I hope you all get caught up on your sleep.

About getting to church late...;-)Well, we've struggled w/ that for a long time. We've almost always lived around 45 minutes away from church, and then we had a new baby when my youngest was 5 yrs. old...and you forget how much of an adjustment that is. Well, all this to say that this last week, we were on time....WOAH! Keep on keeping on, and it'll happen!

Have a wonderful day!
