My advice is that having two children is just so much fun!! So get ready to enjoy life even more than you already are! (I know, it doesn't seem possible... but it just keeps getting better!)
On a more practical note, actually, for weeks now I have been planning a blog post about this topic... so stay tuned ;)
I had to rush on over here right away when I saw this in my feed reader to see if there was any more detail...bummer, nothing more. But a very heartfelt congratulations to you and Jesse if you are expecting!
Oh how exciting!!!! Congratulations! I am a mom of two(soon to be three). You will have enough love to go around and just remember they are all different. Enjoy every minute of it! And don't forget to include Kathrynne as mucy as you can in the pregnancy. It did wonders for my eldests bonding to her sister.
Please don't keep us in suspense!! I too saw this in my feed reader and was expecting a full article or a read question...I hope congratulations are in order!! :)
Are you dropping a hint here?!? God is so good!During our 2nd pregnancy, we really involved Talitha in what was going on-firstly explaining that a new baby was in Mummy's tummy, talking to the baby, praying etc-& of course feeling the kicks... A Hint:Don't name the baby unless you check the gender first. We called my bump Zac (short for Zachary Elijah)for 9 months-then out popped Zara! Talitha wondered if Zac was still in their somewhere! Blessings & congratulations if you really are... Claire
Concratulations. Twins Wow You "two" Just get ready to do every thing in Two's Twice the fun Twice the heartache Twice the shopping end enjoy every moment twice!!!
How wonderful, Crystal and Jesse...and Kathrynne; do enjoy this chapter in life in Christ as He works out the adjustments for the next!
Our children are 11 years apart so the change was a bit different for us; remember simplicity and being able to embrace the "no" word concerning anything and anyone that makes your family more complicated and less the level of priority than God would have it to be.
Congratulations! (at least I'm hoping I'm congratulating you for the right thing!) God has a funny way of sending blessings *just* when are ready for them. Happy Baby!
Hello, I hope congratulations are in order. I just had my second child almost 4 months ago. My DD just loves her new baby brother. It does take some adjustment. With the first child, I felt adjusted after 6 weeks. With the second child, it was at about 12 weeks. I could go on and on about this, but until I hear the "rest of the story" I will just wish you congratulations!! Jennifer
Yay! I'm so happy for you and Jessie, Crystal! I had to read your post a few times to "get" it. I'm slow. . . and blond :). Then I realized, "Oh, duh!" So happy for you!
Congratulations! I have to say that the transition from one to two and three to four were the hardest ones for me. It helps if your older is potty trained before the baby gets here, and I know you're training Kathryn now, so that will be a big help. If Kathryn can run and fetch diapers, socks, etc. for you, and is an eager helper, then you'll have a great time being a mom to two! I'm so excited for you. I'm currently expecting my 5th, and the excitement just never wanes when there's a new baby expected.
Yay!!!! Congratulations, Crystal & Jesse, and big sister Kathrynne!!! I can't wait to hear more details . . . Hope you will feel a LOT better with this pregnancy and have the energy you need.
We just had our second child 6 months ago. Out kiddos are about 26 mos. apart. Life is definitely busier with two--there are some days when I don't get much done that was on my to-do list, but I have to say that life is even more fun with two children! Now that Julia is 6 mos., it is fun to see how she and Sam interact with each other. No one can make her smile and giggle like he can!
I found it was easier to have 2 than one! I just did everything twice (except for nursing) Also though I could not get as much done as I wanted to, but this really did not happen badly until my third!
If everyone is right and you are expecting a baby....congratulations and I hope you not get too sick!
I was just on my way home from grocery shopping and I thought, "I bet Crystal will announce that she's pregnant very soon." I'm so excited for you! God is good. That baby is blessed to be born into your family. Congrats!
Congratulations! How blessed that little one is to have such godly parents. As for advice, all I can say isthat having two little ones is an adventure. But it is a wonderful one!
How exciting! And isn't God's timing amazing!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It'll certainly be a big adjustment, but you've clearly got a sweet and well-trained little mama's helper, so you're a step ahead of a lot of people. :)
My advice: Rest when you can! Even if it makes you feel lazy.
hmmmm, "two" as in having a second child or as in having twins? And "me" as in Crystal or as in Crystal wanting to know for someone else? Mysteries and inquiring minds want to know. :-)
Crystal, Congratulations! I know you all must be so very excited! I am a mom of two(hopefully soon 3)and I must say that the second time around is much easier simply b/c you go about things with a "been there, done that" kind of attitude. I enjoyed my second one even more b/c I wasn't worried and anxious about every little thing and I'm sure you'll find it to be the same. My son absolutely adored his little sister when she came, I truly believe b/c we talked about her nonstop...he'd talk to my belly, rub my belly, sing to my belly, as well as pray for her! Kathrynne will surely be a doting big sister and a wonderful little helper! Congrats again!!!!!! Heather in Pa
Going to jump the gun and say congrats to you, your husband and daughter!
I found the transition from 1 to 2 to be pretty easy. It was from 2 to 3 that I found to be a challenge. After that, adding another child hasn't been that challenging.
Congratulations! I didn't find 2 to be really much more difficult than one. Children that are being trained to be helpers and that they don't always get their way seem to adjust beautifully to younger siblings when they're relatively close in age. Mine have all been 23 months apart.
No particular advice, but congratulations!
Heather (mom to 3 children 5 and under, and baby #4 due in June)
Thank you to everyone for your kind words and encouragement and excitement!
For those who know me just a little bit, you know I wouldn't be one to just post and say, "Hey, everyone, I'm pregnant." Nah, not my style.
However, I also knew from past experience were I to post something having you guess, everyone would just guess I was pregnant. So, I thought I'd at least post something which would make you have to think about it for two seconds and not get it right off. :)
More details to follow, I promise. I have to say that I really would love to hear more advice from moms of two or more on what you wish you would have done or what you are glad you did, to prepare better for having two youngsters in the house. Expect me to be picking your brain a lot in the next few months. :)
My brain is still reeling from excitement and the great responsibility and the new adjustments which will take place... Well, and the usual hormone preggo brain... most of you know how that goes! :)
More later. We just spent a wonderful day with my sister - shopping, cleaning, cooking, and attending a short political rally. We're all heading to bed early in order to be rested for a day of worship and fellowship tomorrow. I'll be back here sometime next week to fill you in on more, since I know some of you wanted to hear details. :)
Oh and did anyone suspect this? I think anyone really observant may have picked up on it in my posts - I was unusually long-winded, pessimistic, and rambly in recent posts - and I didn't even realize it until I looked back and re-read stuff! Check out this comment I'm making right now - how rabbit-trailish and incoherent can you get? I get really "weird" when I'm pregnant so I have no clue what kind of pregnant blogger I might be. That could be scary! I'm glad you all are patient and long-suffering!
So much more to write and I need to get to bed... Thanks for sharing in our excitement and joy. We truly feel so blessed. God is so good.
Congratulations! I am so excited for you! I have been waiting for this news! I am a mom of two (ages 2 and 3, 15 months apart) and my best advice is - sleep now while you can! The Lord's blessings to you, Valerie
Congratulations! I am really excited for your family. I have enjoyed reading about your life and learning from your wisdom. I have to admit that I was a bit nervious when I was prego with #2 because of horror stories others told me, but it just made me pray more and work more at involving our son in the pregnancy and comming birth. I prayed a lot for the relationship he would have with the new baby. I bought a few books about being a big brother. We talked about the baby a lot and I would have had him at my birth if he had been awake. I think some of the best advice I recieved was to make sure my husband and I continued to spend one on one time with our son to make him feel special and to really involve him in our new baby activities. One thing that makes having 2 easier than you think is that at first the baby sleeps a lot, this really helps! I think it is important to give yourself some time to adjust to having 2 children and not just jump in and try to be super mom right away. I look forward to "watching" you progress in your pregnancy and will enjoy reading other moms advice to you.I know you will do wonderfully
Oh I'm SO happy for you!!!!!!!!! I was hoping it would happen soon! I'm due w/my second in early March so it will be so fun to know you're going through the same stuff! A hearty congratulations to you, Jesse & Kathrynne!!!! :) (I'm looking forward to all of the advice you get and, hopefully, share.)
Congratulations! My best advice on having two (or more) is to just do what you are probably doing, pray and trust in God to lead you. And, get as much rest as you can now---take naps with Kathryn and cherish it all. It goes by so fast! God Bless, Valerie
I am a mother of 2 pre school children. I am considering sending them to Montessori School. I like the idea that they learn by doing. Do you or any other mothers recommend this? Please advise.
Haha, Crystal! I didn't notice anything about your recent blogging that made me suspect something, but after I read this post I thought, "I should re-read the past few weeks' posts to see if she hinted at ALL about being pregnant!" :) Congratulations!
Yaaaayyyy!!!!! Congratulations! I am so excited for ya'll!!!! I can't wait to found out when you are due, etc. Will you be finding out the gender or just be suprised?
Praise the Lord, Crystal!!! I am so thrilled for you!! God is just wonderful, isn't He?
Comgratulations!!
Blessings, Jill J.
By the way, don't worry if you ever wonder if could love this new baby as much as your daughter--I promise you will love this one just as much! (And then you'll wonder how you could have ever wondered about it in the first place!!!)
Oh, I am SOOOO happy for you and your growing family! Since I only have one child, I can't give any advice, but I will be praying for a healthy pregnancy, smooth delivery and a reltive easy transition from family of three to four!
Congratulations, Crystal & Jesse! What thrilling news... some of my favorite kind. :-) God is so, so good!
I'm happy for your family more than I can say... you know exactly how blessed you are by the life growing inside of you. May God bless you and Baby throughout your pregnancy!
Well, I really can't give you any advice. Every pregnancy is different.
I was very sick with my second, but not as sick as I was with my first. I think the most important thing for me the first four months was to get up before my son and throw up before he was up. I know that sounds gross, but it was much easier to be sick by myself. Of course my sickness was all day, but it was worse in the morning. The few times my oldest did witness me throw up, I thought he would cry or something. He laughed hysterically, instead. So much for "protecting" him.
The second pregnancy zipped by for me. All of a sudden I had another baby.
One thing that I wish I had done is not become lax with my discipline of my toddler. Because of my illness and general malaise of pregnancy I got a little lazy in the discipline area of child rearing. I also, became easier when my second was a newborn because I felt like I was neglecting my toddler. Sure, I spent less time with him, but I think that is healthy for children. They learn that they are not the center of attention.
Having two is wonderful. My sons play together and my oldest has learned what sharing is.
Don't worry about not loving number two as much as number one (some of my friends express this worry). When I held my second I was just as much in love with him as when I held my first.
That is about all I can think of right now. Again, I am SO happy for you!
Take it from this 21 year old mom of two that you should enjoy your downtime now while you can because life is about to get SO much more hectic! I wouldn't trade it for the world. I can't believe you're going to have another baby. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats, i was so happy for you last night...yet dont know you....i'm just enjoy this little window of joy you let us all peek into...today God showed me, he takes care of me...and not too worry...so i'll tell you the same...i had post partum after my second...but it was more at having to always take care of one's needs and having to make the other wait...that balanced out..and now they LOVE each other, i have a 5 yr old dd and 3 yr old ds...enjoy the blessing.
Crystal, I just heard the news from my family this morning, so I decided to check your blog to see if you had posted anything yet. :) Congratulations to you all!
Congratulations! Two is really a breeze! You will find that the pregnacy goes by much quicker with a little one to keep you occupied. The only stressful thing for me was making sure I had someone to keep an eye on the baby while I was in labor. You probably have sisters willing to help out there though! Congratulations on adding to your quiver! E
Crystal, I'm a little behind on reading your blog this week as I am preparing for maternity leave from work and life has been hectic.
I am so happy to hear that your family is expecting a new arrival. (I'm expecting my first in 2 months). God is perfect in His timing isn't He? I think that 2 +/- yrs between children is the perfect amount of time. It gives you plenty of time to enjoy your first as a baby and then your first is a little more independent by the time #2 comes along.
BABIES ARE SO EXCITING!
Guess we will be seeing some bootie and blankie projects on your posts in the months to come :)

Yay! Mine are 21 mos apart, and I say two are better than one! :) Twice the fun, and they get an instant friend. :)
Congrats!!!!!!
I'll be honest and say that going from 1 to 2 was pretty hard for me, but after that it was a cinch. :-)
Woohoo!
What a blessing! I can tell you are doing a beautiful job as a mommy to one and will continue to do so with each arrow God gives to your family.
Congratulations! I didn't find 2 to be really much more difficult than one. Children that are being trained to be helpers and that they don't always get their way seem to adjust beautifully to younger siblings when they're relatively close in age. Mine have all been 23 months apart.

I'm happy for your family more than I can say... you know exactly how blessed you are by the life growing inside of you. May God bless you and Baby throughout your pregnancy!
Well, I really can't give you any advice. Every pregnancy is different.

Again, I am SO happy for you!
how long must we be kept in suspense as to the details of this glorious occasion?! :)
Take it from this 21 year old mom of two that you should enjoy your downtime now while you can because life is about to get SO much more hectic! I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I can't believe you're going to have another baby. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crystal,
I just heard the news from my family this morning, so I decided to check your blog to see if you had posted anything yet. :) Congratulations to you all!
Congratulations, Crystal! Will pray for you, the family and the new baby!
Oh Crystal! That's so WONDERFUL! Congratulations to you and your family! Lots of prayers and good thoughts your way!

Oh my Gosh! Congratulations Crystal! Enjoy your downtime! I'm sure Kathryn will be so excited to have a new little brother or sister!

Congratulations! Y'all must be so excited! :-)
Crystal,
I'm a little behind on reading your blog this week as I am preparing for maternity leave from work and life has been hectic.
Jennifer
