Sewing show-and-tell
I didn't get this posted on Saturday, but I wanted to post it quickly today before I forgot...
Here's the scarf I finished last week (click to enlarge):

I think it turned out adorably and Kathrynne loves it! I have enough yarn to make a few more of these scarfs. If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to make them for $15 each plus shipping. I can make them whatever width and length you specify. Email me if you are interested.
My project for this week is learning how to make dish cloths. I used a pattern someone mentioned here (can't remember who you were but thanks so much!) and am really enjoying this. Simple, quick, and easy. I'm using wool yarn my husband bought for me to make them. I hope to finish this dishcloth this week.
In other project news: Jesse's family bought me a rag-rug making kit for my birthday and I've been experimenting with it the past day. It seems like it will be a very easy and fun skill to learn. Plus, a great and practical way to recycle old fabrics. My parents bought me all the supplies to make soy candles. I can't wait to try my hand at those. Then, another kind lady sent me candy making and truffle-making supplies for me to try out and review on my blog (Yum! I never would turn down that kind of review!) which arrived today. I just love learning all these new domestic skills! It's so fulfilling to make something yourself from scratch! Plus, I am looking forward to being able to pass these skills down to my daughters.
What projects have you been working on? I'd love to hear. Learning any new skills? Perfecting any "old" ones?

Wow what fun! Thanks for sharing, I love that scarf, you did a great job. Can't wait to see how your other projects turn out.
I love seeing your projects! Kathrynne is such a sweetie! A wool dishrag? Is wool good for washing dishes? Did you teach yourself how to knit? :)
Love the scarf! My current projects are still knitting socks, making hairbows(I have a little hairbow business) and I have been canning pear perserves today and I will be doing the same again tomorrow. My grandmother has 2 pear trees and told me to come get all I could so I did just that. LOL! We'll be eating them for a good long while but hey, it was free food. Can't beat that!

The scarf is really pretty and just look at Kathrynne's smile!
I also just bought a rag rug kit on Saturday. My first rug will be done in purples for my daughter's room. All of my free time right now is being spent making the 75 Christmas presents we make every year for family and friends. I was faced when we got married a few years ago with a huge Christmas list...it was either not give all of our family a present or find a way to do it within our budget. They all appreciate the small crocheted, sewn, drawn, and woodburned projects my family makes for them, and we love thinking up new "domestic arts" to give away. This year my 6yo DD is getting in the act by making Christmas ornaments for each family out of clothespins! God bless!
I'm trying to crochet a scarf for my husband for this winter. The one he has was made by my dear grandmother for Christmas two years ago before she went Home. It's a heartbreaking (for me) sight to see him wear it, and I want to somehow preserve the scarf as long as possible, while also preserving her memory. She could barely stay awake because of pain medication, but she INSISTED on making him this hat and scarf.
I want to honor her memory somehow by continuing to crochet...
I just posted a dish cloth pattern
on my site today too...you'll
love how much better they wash than
store bought cloths.
Your scarf is beautiful!
I'm a cross-stitcher myself, though I would love to learn to sew, crochet, & knit, in that order. Your projects look lovely!
Thanks for your blogs they are very sweet.
You did an excellent job, Crystal. I look forward to the time when I can learn to knit! Kathrynne's smile is beautiful.
How cute the scarf turned out! I just finished two scarves, blogged here.
Also, I'm working on a quilt, blogged about here.
I always have something going!
Is the wool washable? Because if it's not, it's going to end up felting as you use it/wash it. It looks so pretty!
The scarf is too cute, but then so is Kathrynne. :) I would like to learn how to knit sometime. However, I think I would loose count and thoroughly confuse myself. Do you find this difficult?
This morning I finished the quilt that I have been working on for over 3 years.
