No value for human life

Doesn't this article just break your heart?
From The Daily Mail:

The Church of England has broken with tradition dogma by calling for doctors to be allowed to let sick newborn babies die.

Christians have long argued that life should preserved at all costs - but a bishop representing the national church has now sparked controversy by arguing that there are occasions when it is compassionate to leave a severely disabled child to die.

And the Bishop of Southwark, Tom Butler, who is the vice chair of the Church of England's Mission and Public Affairs Council, has also argued that the high financial cost of keeping desperately ill babies alive should be a factor in life or death decisions.

However, in light of the rampant brutal murdering of tiny babies still in utero all across our country, should something like this surprise us? When there is no value for human life inside the womb, why should we value it once it is out of the womb?

I agree, it is no surprise. If we do not value life, this is the logical outcome, along with assisted suicide. I blogged about it too. It is heartbreaking to see though.

May God Help Us!!! The U.S. can't be far behind this action. Christians have sat silent far to long. May we have courage to speak out against all acts of murder against innocent life. How God's heart must break to see His creation destroyed in this way!

*Sigh* And to think some of us desperately want children...

Sadly, I am not surprised...but I am horrified! My hubby read this to me and I just am so frustrated. Have you ever looked over the Code of Hammurabi? It is something that most today(even in the secular community)would say is rather barbaric...however, there is a portion(if I'm remembering my history properly)that gives rules of leaving deformed or disabled babies to the elements. It is bad enough our world seems to collectively turn it's back on the murders of unborn babies...must we return to this awful disdain for those who need our help. Just because the doctors are the ones allowing it and it is in a sterile enviroment that these wee ones are left to die, does not make this any less horrific.

Praying for all these precious ones that may be subjected to such treatment,
Sommer

Yeah, I read this the other day and it got me really angry. And I am in agreement with Andrea. Here there are thousands of women who desperately want a baby but cannot for health reasons and such and here the world gets away with aborting babies because the mother dosn't want to take responsiblility, or babies thrown in trash cans, etc.
I am sorry to say, it's only going to get worse. ;-(
I don't think we have much longer till the Lord comes back, in all honesty.

It's not at all surprising, but horrific nonetheless.

Actually, disgusting, ghastly, and evil are words that come to mind. :(

Oh my! I'm ashamed to be English, to even consider financial costs above a child's life...

Sadly, our culture is one of death and of giving up on those we are not to give up on. In the scriptures, we are called "our brother's keepers." Culturally, this is sadly, not the case.

the fleshly side of me says "throw all these 'so called Christians' who think this is not only moral but what God would do in a garbage bag, poke them with needles suck out their brains, jab scissors in their heads, or do whatever else we want to do to kill them and see how they like it. After all, they must not really be humans." Fortunatly my Spiritual side is telling me to just pray harder, the end is near. I'm so outraged by this i don't have anything else to say...

I don't know about the Church of England, but its' American counter-part, the Episcopalian Church has almost abandoned biblical Christianity. They nominated a h*m*s*xual bishop in my state. They believe that Christianity evolves and they claim that the "Spirit" moves in their church allowing them to make these changes. What angered me about the nomination of this bishop the most wasn't that he was gay, but that he had left his wife for his lifestyle. What kind of an example is that to married men and families. In shroud of diversity they glorified this man. However, they forgot about the woman that he cast aside and the children that he hurt.

So, it isn't surprising at all that the Church of England would consider this. The question is, why only allow the deformed babies to die? Why don't we go into these institutions that care for the severely disabled and inject them with some poison? If we use their logic we could've pulled the plug on the late Christopher Reeve. The reason is because these babies cannot speak and have no voice for themselves. SO when does life start? When the kids can speak for themselves and say, "don't kill me". We are human beings and should be spending our time saving life, not destroying it. We are not God. Let us atleast err on the side of life. Many babies born with cerebal palsy and Downs are some of the babies who would qualify to be euthanized. There are many adults living with these diseases that have become blessings to their families and a wonderful inspiration to many.

The Church of England needs to repent. When the leaders stand before God to give an account, how much worse will it be for them?

I'm not English and not a member of the Church of England, but I wondered if I could offer some insight into what has gone here.

Like the Church of Scotland, the Church of England has got some very good evangelical Bible-believing pastors and churches and some terribly liberal pastors and churches. Unfortunately, it seems too often that it is the liberals who climb the ladder in church hierarchy and end up on committees deciding these policies. I am sure this has horrified many Church of England members as much as it has horrified us.

Sadly though, as Michele points out, it is the logical extension (by secular standards) of aborting disabled babies. Why should people, who have been brought up being told by society and sadly sometimes by the church that abortion is okay, believe any different?

A Tender Love
By
Terah K. Biller

God holds the love,
The love for one…

That could never hold the hope of tomorrow’s dreams
That could never feel the ties of a mother’s heart strings
That could never grasp at faith because it wasn’t known
That could never cling to love because it wasn’t shown
That was never given grace
And yet was offered pain to face
That never had the strength so he could fight
That never had the choice of death or life

A tender love
That only God bestows
Was given
And still is given unto those
~~~~~
This is just a poem I wrote a few years back that I thought really applied to this discussion. Even when the world turns a cold shoulder on helpless infants, we can trust that God cares! Their reward in Heaven will be far greater than anything on this earth! Praise the Lord for grace,mercy and love!
A little over 22 years ago I was born 2 1/2 months early - horribly early 'back then'. There were other problems as well (umbilical cord wrapped around my neck, etc). But I'm here today, and in spite of both massive and minor health problems I would not wish that I had been 'allowed to die in peace'. When I saw this in the newspaper I waas horrified. Of course the road is not going to be easy for these babies or their parents, but when is life ever easy?
It truly bothers me to see innocent babies left to die and there are elderly people near death who just want to go to heaven and have heroic measures stopped and their wishes aren't granted.
I blogged about this topic last week.
Keziah, thank you for your defense of the Anglican church! Indeed, there are thousands of Anglican Christians- clergy and laity- all around the world who deplore such bizarre behavior by a few of our bishops.
From the fact that God calls to the human person from the moment of conception to natural death, and from the fact of Christ's assuming human flesh in His incarnation, the Church knows that the dignity of every person-and of every tiny baby- is intrinsic and inviolable. This dignity is not dependent on any social or physical condition. Thus, for the Church to endorse a policy that would tolerate "potentially lethal acts" against disabled children is an intolerable affront against the child's right to life, and, more importantly, against God's command that we shall not murder.
And truly this case is a signpost of the demise of our culture's standards. These little babies are 1) clearly human persons and 2) are clearly viable... And we are willing to kill them by withholding reasonable therapeutic care.
