3-month pregnancy update - for those who have been asking. The rest of you can just skip this post.

They say that you always get bigger more quickly with second pregnancies. I'm curious to see if that holds true. I'm about 12 weeks now and noticed that I'm starting to sport a very teensy belly bump. Haven't broken out any maternity clothes yet and don't plan to for at least month or two, but we'll see. I know I was in small maternity clothes much of the time last time around 18-20 weeks. It's debatable whether I needed to be or not, though. I think it was just the first-time pregnancy "I want everyone to know I'm pregnant" sort of deal. This time around, I know that in due time, it will be more than obvious, so I'm not racing to jump into maternity clothes until I have to. Funny how your perspective changes.

I've not been to a midwife yet. We're still working out the details of where we'll be living and will wait to nail down where to have the baby until that's determined. Last time, we couldn't hear the heartbeat until 15 weeks anyway, so I figure there's no rush. Baby and I seem to be doing fine, I'm trying to take care of myself as best I can, and I definitely feel plenty pregnant.

Speaking of how I feel, I'm starting to maybe see a tiny glimpse of light at the end of the all-day-sickness tunnel. That is cause for major hallelujahs. I've found that if I go to bed early and get up early, it works much better, and the first few hours in the morning are my best. I've been trying to make use of them to at least accomplish some things and get all the must-do work out of the way. By noon, I'm usually beat and the rest of the afternoon and evening drags on at a very slow and nauseating pace until my early bedtime. However, I'm thankful for at least a few good hours most days. That's something I didn't have a few weeks ago.

A friend of mine, in the early months of her 7th pregnancy, just wrote to me and recommended a vitamin called Women's Ultra Mega from GNC. She normally gets SO sick and drained in the first few months of her pregnancies - losing 10-20 pounds, having to go on nausea medication - but this time she's felt great, and she thinks it's all because of that vitamin. I thought it might be of some use to you. :-D
Take care and merry Christmas!

Of all the "cures" for morning sickness... I have tried ALL OF THEM in 6 pregnancies! Including the nerve stimulating wrist thingy. While many things do work to help some mama's (peppermint helped me this time around but just a little), for many mama's the only cure is time. I do pray for your often - your sickness is very much like my mother's was and I remember the horror stories of the trouble I gave her while she carried me, and the double trouble my brother and sister (twins) gave her later when I wasn't even a year old yet, lol.

I am much smaller with this baby, too. I just had my 20 week checkup (HALFWAY!!!) yesterday but I can still wear most of my regular clothes. This is very unusual for a 6th baby. Per my husbands request we found out that we are having our 5th boy. Thank goodness God blessed us with a daughter first. I think I would be completely lost if I didn't have her around :).

Anyway, congratulations on 12 weeks. For many women 12 to 14 weeks signals a slowing down of the morning sickness. Prayfully you will start feeling better and better every day. If not, you already know that the sickness is totally worth it! I will put up with morning sickness as many more times as God wishes to bless me with it.

God bless and have a lovely Tuesday!

If you get up early???
I'm wondering exactly what that means when it comes from a person who normally rises before 5 AM.

Crystal,
Glad to hear you're feeling a smidge better and getting things worked out around the "morning" sickness. I hit 12 weeks this week and unlike my first pregnancy, this one is hitting me with all-day sickness too. I figured I'd be showing early also, but another surprise, not much yet.
Hope you continue to feel better every day, that your family is all doing well, and that the move and new job go smoothly. Wishing you a wonderful midwife once you get settled and ready to go in.
(PS We got to hear this one's heartbeat last Thursday. I was excited that the doctor sounded as excited as we were!)
