What was that I just said about our trying to eat healthfully?

You know you're pregnant when you are on an important phone call and your child starts hollering "eat, eat" and you pull the first thing you see out of the refrigerator - which just so happens to be an unopened bag of chocolate chips - and you open it up and hand it to your child.

Twenty minutes later you wonder where your child is and you realize said child has been extremely quiet for entirely too long. Finally, you recall the incident with the chocolate chips when you were on the phone. And you proceed to find your child on the same chair they were on when you unthinkingly gave them that bag... and yep, they are still merrily eating chocolate chips.

So much for the healthy eating.

This made me laugh... I have done this so many times. I am on the phone and a child askes for something and I don't even hesitate. Then when I get off the phone, I am often shocked with what I have given them permission to do. Needless to say, I don't enjoy talking on the phone...

My mom used to keep animal crackers within reach of the phone. Pretty healthy, not a safety issue. :) Of course, I say that and last night my cat got in my bag of gummy worms...

Would I be too shame-faced to admit that chocolate chips (frozen) are a regular treat at our house? :)

How come I never got handed any chocolate chips. I usually got the "don't call for me unless the house is burning down or somebody needs to go to the hospital" line. LOL

Take care,

Trixie

My sister- in -law shared a similar story about jelly beans. She keeps a jar by the phone to give him a few if she gets a call. Well, one day I called and she accidently handed her son the jelly bean jar! As your daughter, he got very quiet and needless to say, was having a Jelly Belly Party. Needless to say, Caleb was not too hungry at supper time. You are not alone, Crystal! We've all done this at one time or another! Ruth,PA : )

Crystal, thanks for always making mothering an adventure! I got a good laugh out of the chocolate chip story. I'm leaving a comment for the first time because I just read an alarming news story. It seems as if the Vice President's daughter is pregnant. While I pray that she has a health baby, I can't help but wonder what the Cheney family is enduring given their daughter's "family" situation. What is the best way to confront a situation like that? Is there any guidance specifically in the Bible? Thanks a bunch, Suzy.

Hehehe...Aaron read this and almost died laughing! His mom handed him a brick of Velveeta once when he was young, and ever since, he's had a fondness for the stuff!

You're too funny, girl!

I'm laughin out loud over this! I think my daughter is close to your daughter's age (she was born in February 05), so I can totally imagine doing the same thing (though I don't have the excuse of being pregnant)! And she would totally act the same way as Kathrynne! I love it.
