I really don't think we're good at this moving thing
I have so many things to blog about, but I've been too busy to even think about blogging today... Jesse was off work today (hip, hip, hurray!) and after hardly seeing him all last week due to his new job orientation, we took full advantage of the time to be together as a family. I hadn't been out of the house for a week because of being on bedrest last week and Jesse decided it was high time we do something - anything - that didn't involve staying at home.
We had a few errands to run and ideas of things we could do but our only real objective of the day was to buy an extension cord. We have literally had one hundred and one problems trying to get our business computer system set up. It has been the biggest headache ever making me decide I really don't like moving. After finally tackling about ninety-nine different issues (and I really don't think that number is an exaggeration), we though were ready to go this morning only to find out that the electricity was wired wrong in our basement and we'd have to have an electrician come out and fix it. Guessing it would be at least a few days to get that done and knowing we couldn't wait a day longer to get orders processed and business things up and running, I decided on just making do with a snazzy extension cord. Problem is, we didn't have one. Thus, our chief objective was to get an extension cord today.
So, we piled into the car with our extra cash envelopes and prepared for an adventure. If you've never been with us when we have nothing planned and a car and some money, well, let's just say, you've missed out on some adventures in your life.
Our first stop was (with Jesse's prompting) for me to go and get my hair done. At least, that was supposed to be our first stop. Since my hubby wanted me to get "the whole works," they couldn't take a walk-in and we had to make an appointment for later in the day. So, we left there and headed to find the nearest Chick-Fil-A. Er, that was the plan. We thought we knew where it was, but after almost one and half hours of driving, we decided we most assuredly didn't.
Giving up on that for the day, since our starving bellies could wait no longer, we quickly decided on a second-rate alternative. We had a few moments to spare after lunch, so we dashed inyo Office Depot hoping to secure the needed extension cord. I got sidetracked looking at storage bins and computer desks and then it was time to head to my appointment. Oh well, we'll hit Office Depot later and get the extension cord, we promised ourselves.
After the 2 1/2 hour hair appointment (yes, Jesse never goes for some cheap and quick cut for me!), our tummies were again hollering to be fed. We decided we'd find some place to stop for a bite while we were on our way to use my Christmas gift card at Christopher and Banks. Remember our earlier troubles with Chick-Fil-A? Finding Christopher and Banks (which we again thought we knew where it was) was the Chick-Fil-A woes all over again.
This time, though, I got smart and called my sister to look up the location on the internet for me. Success for once! (Never mind that I was on the phone hollering off the locations and asking Jesse which one it was while we were also trying to order at the Long John Silver's drive thru. Hey, we actually found the place and it only took us 30 minutes total! Our new town navigational skills are vastly improving!) And we even scored some great deals like a nice shirt, in my color, for $0.98!
When we walked out of Christopher and Banks, we realized it was almost 8 p.m., I was ready to go home, Kathrynne needed to go to bed, and we still didn't have what we had come for - that extension cord. We reluctantly decided we'd just hit the nearest Wal-Mart on the way home and call it quits. But, we forgot that this city has no Wal-Marts. Or, at least the ones they do have seem to be off the beaten path and well-hidden. We drove around in vain for another 20 minutes trying to locate a Wal-Mart when a "brilliant" thought crossed my mind... Why not go to the hardware store which is just down the street from our house? Maybe we should have done that in the first place, we both realized. Why do we always overlook the obvious?
Extension cord at last in hand, we finally and wearily made it home near 9 p.m. after seeing much more of our new town than we ever expected to traverse in a day. And what did we find when we walked in the door? A note on our kitchen table from the electrician - he had come and fixed our wiring.
What a perfect ending to such a bizarre day; we didn't even need the extension cord after all. Oh well, I'm sure it will come in handy some time.

I love that ending about the electrician!! Haha, way too funny. :) Wow, did I miss a post about how the job thing all worked out?? That's cool. You'll have to send me your new address, btw, so I know where you are now!
LOL! Too funny! It's days like that I'm reminded that God most certainly has a sense of humor!
haha your adventure really cracked me up! by the way, your website with God's words is truly inspiring for me! I am so glad that I found this website! =)
Crystal, That is hilarious! What an adventure, and don't you just love deals on clothes! I got a nice blouse the other day for 1.99 brand new! Best Wishes in your new home!-Shannon
Can I just say I am tired after reading your post?????!!!! Oh!!!, and may I say, that I don't get to cut your hair anymore??? What??!!!I have been kicked to the curb????
Actually Crystal, you are going to laugh at me....I FORGOT for just a moment that we don't live close to each other anymore. My mind is lost......help!!!!!
P.S. How did the cut turn out????
this is simply too funny. I'm glad you got to get out of the house but it sounds like it may have been better to stay home. Glad you are doing better and you are settling in. Have a great week.
;D
I would LOVE to see what they did to your hair that took 2 1/2 hours. LOL. Did you get it colored or something.
Extension cords always come in handy. We never have enough. :-)
Oh man!!! I'm SO glad I wasn't there. After all those "99" other problems we had when I was there last week...I don't think I could have stood anymore. :) I love the ending though- that is JUST the type of thing to happen to you guys. (And Crystal - I guess those guys really DO come in your house if you don't answer the door! *gasp* :) )
Your little sis
I always say the best way to find your way around a new place is to get lost. :-)
Cheryl, the cut/highlight turned out well and I was happy with it. I have such trouble finding decent hairstylists but was happy with this woman. She wasn't quite as particular as the lady you recommended in our old town, but the end product was just as good, so I guess that's what matters most. (Oh, I went to Regis, by the way, thanks to you!)
I miss you. :(
Crystal - you can't tell us you sat through a 2 1/2 hour hair appointment and then now show pics of how it turned out! =) I'm glad to know that y'all are getting settled. -Tiffany
We are coming back.....send me your phone number for an update. :-)
I laughed right out loud while reading this! That sounds like something that would happen to us. :-D
