A lovely home
One of my blog readers sent me these lovely pictures of her home last week. I liked them so much that I asked if I could post them here along with her commentary...
I'm sure you'll get a lot of great ideas about how to decorate your house (and I'm no Martha Stewart!), but I thought you might like a few ideas of what you can do/make yourself, as opposed to purchasing. (Note from Crystal: Click on the pictures to enlarge them.)
The first picture is of my son's room. I painted the words to a lullaby I like on the wall. The other wall, which you can't see, has a moon & stars painted on it. I am NOT an artist, but it was really easy.
I haven't yet figured out how to load pictures from our camera onto our computer so the second picture, which is one that we happened to already have on our computer, is meant to show you a frame that I have over our fireplace...even though you can't really see it very well. When we were on a vacation in Maine, I gathered some prairie grass, bunched it together, tied it with a ribbon and framed it. It always reminds me of that trip and I love it! I plan to do this type of thing with future trips, too.
The last picture shows a piece of weathered wood, painted and then stenciled. You can use any phrase, of course, but it is really easy to do. I didn't actually make this one myself, but they are very easy to make (and good gifts too!).

Hi Crystal,
Wow! What a fantastic home! I love the nursery and wall lettering is just awesome. That is definately something I will do if and when I have a child! I am going to ask to borrow my Mom's camera so I can take some pics of my place to show you. Just let me make my bed first!!! lol
That is a lovely home! The nursery is especially lovely. I live in an apartment, so I can't paint...but I love seeing what is done with decorations that have been collected. Thanks for sharing!

That person was blessed with a gorgous and spacious home. How beautiful!!
Gorgeous home! I have to admit, I'm a tad envious of all the space! LOL
One of the things I am currently trying to do in our home is pare down to the essentials. Then, the decorative items actually stand out, as opposed to being hidden in a bunch of "stuff". I especially love the nursery pictures- just what I have in mind for our next babe. Lots of creamy white and pastels, with some toile thrown in. So pretty! :o)
Love to see what others are up to in their homes!

Wow, what a beautiful home!!!
That reminds me of Lauren and Magen's bedrooms when I was in TX. They each had their favourite Bible verse painted on their walls along with flowers etc that suited their personalities. Gorgeous! I'll see if I can dig up pics for you! :) I have them at home...
i hope they will send you more photos for us to see, or maybe they have a blog?
Okay - when I looked at these pictures - I at first thought they came out of a magazine! It is all beautiful! (And the nursery is spotless - my little boy's is not -we read too many books and somehow they end up scattered in the rocker, on the desk, on the floor, etc.) -Tiffany
I love, love, LOVE open floor plan main living areas. Both of the houses we built had them. I love the flexibility.
Nice pictures. Clean and simple is good. :)
