I survived
Thanks for all your great help and ideas with my very "pressing" question yesterday. I'm actually glad I asked because being the follow-directions-explicitly kind of person I am, I really was going to try and chug all that water like an obedient patient (Yes, you have my permission to laugh at my stupidity... how was I to know any better?!). I ended up just drinking a big ole glass of water on the way to the appointment and it did the trick.
When we walked in, the guy (receptionist, office manager?? Not sure on the title.) asked me, "Do you have a full bladder?" He acted like it was his usual greeting instead of saying, "Hi, how are you?" I guess it probably is considering the clinic he works at only does ultrasounds, but still, it kind of caught me off-guard. I had to chuckle, though, because does any pregnant woman ever feel like she doesn't have a full bladder?
At any rate, everything went well. We very much enjoyed the experience, Baby is beautiful (although skinny, skinny - I forgot they have zero fat on them at 19 weeks!), we didn't find out what we were having, everything looks to be in good order, and, most importantly (to me, at least!), I am really and truly 19 weeks. Yay!

Ultrasounds are so fun! Did you get to tape it or at least get pictures? ~Sarah:)
Glad everything is well Crystal. I also follow directions to the letter so I was also glad when the receptionist at my doctor's office told me the "trick" of not drinking all that water! Ultrasounds are still uncomfortable though... but it's so wonderful to see the baby inside you.
Glad to hear that everything looks normal!!
Preggy Pictures Please!
Well, I'd post some pictures, maybe, but I don't have anything to show yet. :)I've gained a few pounds but don't have any tummy to show. Give me a few more weeks - I know I was showing well enough to see in a picture by 23 weeks last time. :)
Oh and yes, Sarah, we got pictures and a DVD. :) I'd post it here, but the baby would never turn his/her head around so we spent almost 20 minutes trying to get a successful profile picture/movie and never did! So what you can see on the movie is basically the side of the baby's head and the hand/arm covering the face (the baby was acting very shy!!).
I think Jesse wants to go back around 28 weeks when we can see the baby even better. We'll see. :)
I am so happy you had an enjoyable ultrasound. Was your little baby really active? Mine has been so active since I first saw him/her on the ultrasound at 11 weeks. Blessings to you!
You spent 20 minutes trying to get the baby to turn? Girl, you're a saint. I was screaming at them to "get that thing off of my stomach NOW or I WILL go on your table!" after about oh, 3 minutes.
Personally, I think that anyone who says that I need to drink 54 ounces or whatever of water as a pregnant lady before an ultra sound is one thing...
a sadist.
Good to hear baby is healthy, we get to hear our little one's ticker next week Friday! :)
It is wonderful to hear that all is well with your baby. That is so exciting! I go in for my ultrasound next week. I am 20 weeks today and definately showing. I hope that is okay! My little sister said the other day, hmm it looks like that is as big as you are going to get. Lol. I think she'll be surprised. :)

Crystal,
Reading about all that water you were having to drink made me very thankful my doctors don't believe in such out-dated techniques!!!!
I have to see a specialist because of some previous difficult OB history. That means I have a songram every time I have an appointment. NEVER have I ever had to drink water before. In fact, they ask me to go to the restroom FIRST, then do the sonogram.
All that said, I'm glad you had such a good time seeing your baby for the first time. Technology has opened some wonderful doors for parents!!! As many times as I sit in that chair and see my baby moving around, I never grow tired of looking at the miracle growing inside of me!
May God continue to bless you in this pregnancy! Can't wait to see preggy pictures either! :)
