Valentine's Day at our home

Our planned at-home Valentine's Dinner for tomorrow night:
-Chicken cheese pizza (I'm thinking on making little individual pizzas in heart-shapes.)
-Homemade heart-shaped pretzels sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar
-Salad with red tomatoes
-Chocolate-dipped strawberries
-Homemade brownies cut out in heart-shapes
I decided to keep things pretty simple since I am low on energy and have a busy week. We also try to shy away from food coloring whenever possible (Do you know how nasty that stuff is for you??), so I had fun coming up with things with red and hearts which didn't require food coloring. Kathrynne and I are going to decorate the table with special Valentine's decorations that my mom gave to us and we are making Valentine's for Daddy today to try and express to him just how much we love him and are thankful for him.
I wanted to do something special for breakfast, too, but I'm having trouble coming up with any ideas. Anyone want to share theirs?
What are you doing for Valentine's Day at your house?

Do you have any heart-shaped cookie cutters? you can use them to make heart shaped pancakes, and/or to cook eggs in (you know, like you would cook an egg in an egg ring, but use a cookie cutter instead, which only works if your cutter is big enough...).
Your dinner sounds great!
I have a wonderful recipe for Strawberry muffins with Strawberry Butter. They are so good and easy to make!
How about heart shaped biscuits?
Well, you could do heart shaped pancakes or heart cut outs in toast with cinnamon sugar. You could even put an egg in the heart cut out of the toast on a cookie sheet and bake it. Put a little honey on the heart shapes you get from the toast and bake those along with the egg/toast. Those are fun.
We usually have a strawberry smoothie as it is pink!
We have pb&j cut into heart shapes as well for lunch. Sort of messy, but fun.
heart shaped pancakes are always a hit, but in this busy house i'm making heart shaped banana muffins, the only time i use paper liners...in the muffin tin put a marble in between the tin and the liner and the cupcake or muffin bakes heart shape....these muffins are my families fav, and i dont like them so better for me...lol...and of course i'll add choco chips....
celina in canada
What about heart-shaped scones? I think I might make some of these tomorrow morning, or tonight!
We like heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes with fresh berries and whipped cream on top. Not terribly healthy, but hey, it's only valentine's once a year!
How about hot cereal with strawberries , raspberries, cranberries, apple slices, or another red fruit?
As mentioned, you could make heart-shaped pancakes or toast (save the cuttings and crust for breadcrumbs, of course!). If you don't have heart-shaped cookie cutters for pancakes, you can outline a heart with batter, let it cook briefly, then fill it in with a regular scoop.
Oh, you could do a sort of breakfast/dessert "pizza". Depending on the toppings you choose, it could be very sweet (no pun intended)! Use a sweet dough or biscuit and make a big heart shape. For sauce, you could use yogurt (strawberry or plain), whipped cream, pureed dessert tofu, jam, apple butter, cream cheese...Toppings could be fruit, ground nuts, chocolate chips, etc. Try topping with melted chocolate or honey.
As has been said, heart-shaped pancakes, muffins, scones, etc. Also, vanilla or strawberry yogurt with "Valentine" fruit - strawberries, red apples, "red" grapes, raspberries, cherries...
Well, it's not heart shaped or particularly Valentines Day-ish but I'm making cinnamon rolls for tomorrow morning. Hubby usually eats oatmeal so I know he'll like this special treat.
I plan on actually getting up with my hubby before he leaves for work and making him something yummy(I am spoiled and my hubby lets me sleep until our son gets up)I am not sure what I am going to make yet but Ill think of something. Then after he leaves I am going to make homade chocolate truffles for him(no drugstore candy at my house). I am going to spend the day with my son and my best girlfriend and have tea with her and give her some truffles too. Then my hubby and I are going out to dinner with our friends(my best friend is babysitting for me so I will make her candy and get her a card b/c she is so sweet). I am excited I can't wait. I love V-Day!
we celebrated saturday night (for schedule reasons)after kid went to bed - a nice enchilada dinner with "romantic" place settings/candlelight...then a movie from netflix. low key, but nice. our "frugal" version b/c we can't afford a babysitter or going out :)
i wasnt gonna post this, but since i dont have a blog....
you had spoken earlier of single women and remembering them for valentines day, tonight at my daughters elementary school we are having a family pot luck dinner..(organized by the pta).single moms , grandparents etc...the whole family can come...we are expecting about a hundred tonight...what i enjoy the most about the idea is 1) no one is left out...especially the kids and the single parents 2)its relatively free...bring your own dish of course.... 3) its a great way to know the parents of my dd's friends...so when she gets a party invite..i am way more aware of who they are...and its a great way to connect with others in the french catholic community (which are pretty scarce here)
all that to say, i'm all excited about our valentines event, wouldnt want to spend it another way...and i love that its all inclusive...
Celina in Canada...whose heart shaped muffins for tommorrow's breakfast are baking as i type...
I made a triple batch of blueberry heart shaped muffins today for tomorrow's breakfast (I have heart shaped muffin tins). Hubby is up and gone long before I'm up, so I make him things the night before. My daughter requested blueberry instead of strawberry as they're her favorite. ;-)
I am sneaking over to my hubby's office tonight and leaving him a breakfast in his office fridge (smoked salmon, croissant, juice) and a card and candy on his desk.(he's a minister).
In my quiet time, I'll read and meditate on 1 Cor 13. I'll be making strawberry-blueberry muffins and smoothies for breakfast, and chicken pizza (thanks for the idea, Crystal!) with salad and chocolate pudding (made by my brother) for supper. In the afternoon, I babysit for a family that doesn't know the Lord, so I'll bring them some muffins and a card with a verse about God's love on it. I'm going to give a Valentine to each of my family members and make an extra effort to show/share Christ's love with them!
