The grand finale cake

I did a lot of baking this week but failed to take any pictures of it before the items were consumed. However, I did get a picture of my grand finale cake from the Wilton Cake Class Level II. For those of you who know these techniques, you'll easily spot a lot of flaws, but for my first try at a more elaborate cake and considering the fact that I've always been a rather artistically challenged person, I was happy with the results.

Wow!! Great job. I would love to take a class like this. Where in the world would I begin my search for a class in my area, any ideas?

My dh actually is a great cake/cookie decorator, we have thought of doing something like this together.

It looks very good and to me, it looks like a professional did it. Are you taking it somewhere special or just going to share it with your family (which is special too)

Wow! I've never decorated a cake like that before, but the basket-weave technique looks very difficult! It's such a pretty Spring-like cake. Great job!

What a beautiful job you did! I am artistic, and cannot even do anything near that! It kind of inspires me to sign up for a cake decorating class! Only thing is, I am afraid I would eat the results!

It looks great Crystal! :)
I like the color flow birds - when I took the second course it was a butterfly and a fence section. They must have changed it since then...

I love the look of the basketweave!
