In His image
I get a lot of interesting comments and emails in response to things I blog about - many which are just better left unpublished because this blog is about encouraging Christian women not denigrating them. One such unpublished comment from this week was - as often is the case - attacking my beliefs as a Christian. I don't remember the gist of most of the comment, but one part stuck in my head:
"Christianity denies women their personhood..."
Interesting view indeed considering that Biblical Christianity says men and women were made in the image of God for His glory. In contrast, the religion of secular humanism says that we evolved by chance from apes.
Hmm, I think God thinks a lot more highly of women than any evolutionist or secular humanist does.

Chrystal,
What I am in Christ is so much more than anything the world says about my womanhood. In Christ I am complete.

Apes or God's image? I'll take God's image ANY day! :)
I can't for the life of me fathom how people can say things like that (that Christianity denies women their personhood)!! God's design is so perfect, so beautiful, and it breaks my heart to see how this world is trying to push God's design out of everything.
I admire you for keeping on with this good work of yours, in spite of all the "interesting" and sometimes unkind comments you get.
Your views are right on, Crystal. You are so brave to post your opinions here week after week and withstand the kind of criticism you do daily. It's faith like yours that we all wish we had. :)
You go girl. Keep up the good posting. That's only one person's opinion. We all have one. Sometimes we are better to keep it to ourselves.
I agree, of course. The truth seems foolish to those who don't know Christ. I'm sure with your readership you get so many "foolish" comments from those that just don't understand the beauty and worth that we as women of God feel.
"Christianity denies women their personhood..."
HA! If anything, Christianity holds women at a very high value. Perhaps really reading the Bible would help this person realize how God views women.
Crystal, I can only imagine how many such hateful comments you receive. You keep up your good, inspiring work!
I believe religion holds women in high esteem. I believe religion holds the entire human race in high esteem!! I have a post ready about this, and will publish it one of these days.
Crystal,
Amen!
Not to mention, that of all the world religions, Christianity elevates women to the highest, requiring husbands to love their wife as Christ loves the church, and gave His very life for her! Other religions don't call for that kind of love towards women.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14
Couldn't say it any better!
Wow, some folks just do not get it do they?
Glad to see you do!

This is just silly.
The author obviously has no idea that the most effective (dangerous) femminists in the Ivy League circles draw their support of their femminist claims directly FROM the Bible.
Additionally, we non femminists rely on Christianity's doctrines of creation and the Incarnation to hold, uniquely among the world's religions, that every human person is invested with an intrinsic and inalienable dignity, regardless of external condition or gender. God has become flesh; therefore every human becomes infinitely important. Furthermore, BECAUSE of Christianity's doctrine of the Persons of the Trininty, "Personhood" becomes not only inescapable as a concept, but insurmountable as well. This is Christianity's gift to the world, and to all women.
