Enduring to the finish line

Pregnancy does such weird things to one's body, doesn't it? I used to have nosebleeds all the time when I was a child. I had forgotten all about these regular episodes until the past two weeks when out of the blue, I started having nosebleeds routinely again. Like everything else weird in my life right now, I just chalk it up to being pregnant. Don't ask me what the correlation is, but I'm sure it's there somewhere!

I've hit 35 weeks and along with that comes the "my-body-feels-like-it-is-falling-apart" stage. Though it means that the days and the nights are a bit longer, it also means that the finish line is looming a lot closer - for which I am grateful. As much as I love being a mama, I'll readily confess that pregnancy is very hard for me. But the reward at the end is so worth every ache and pain.

In these last few weeks while enduring to the finish line of this pregnancy, I can't help but think of heaven and our Eternal rewards. Life on this earth is not easy. There are difficulties everyday - some which seem insurmountable, many which are overwhelming. But, we press on because, as Christians, we have so much to look forward to.
"...Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:13-14

Vit. C does wonders to stop nose-bleeds. Ask your mid-wife about it.

Keep pressing on---your're almost there now! Reading your pregnancy updates brings back all the old feelings fresh and new again and I can readily relate to the aches and pains, nausea, etc. that seem to be part of the pregnancy package for some people. It's funny how everyone around me seemed to breeze through pregnancy without a hitch and there I was, struggling along just to get through a day! :-)So it definately isn't just you. I only have two children thus far and hope to have a few more over the next couple years, though for the moment I have no hint of "baby fever" and am hoping for a year or so of respite before conceiving again. My youngest is now four months old, so it hasn't been that long since I've been through it all and I so remember that last month that seemed to drag by, and with each Braxton Hicks I would think, "This has to be it!"...I'll be keeping you in my prayers and I've really enjoyed reading your blog over the past couple months since I stumbled across it. I love how it covers such a variety of topics ranging from the serious to Kathrynne's latest antics or sayings.
By the way, I really think you'll be having a girl (and I'm usually right in predicting these things!).It will be fun to hear the great news whenever your baby makes it's grand entrance into the world--no matter what the gender is. I'm sure the three of you are getting anxious to meet him or her.

Ahhh, it just seems like the other day I hit 35 weeks, and now our boy is almost 5 months old! Time sure has a way of dragging by and then zipping past you at different stages of your life, huh? I really am so excited for your family! Hang in there, my friend. The end is fast approaching!

Smiles,
Myklin :)

Hi Crystal...nose bleeds are usually a sign that I am struggling with iron again during pregnancy. At 35 wks and 2 days,
I'm not having them now that I'm on a regular iron supplement (and actually taking it, LOL!). It might be something that you want to have checked out.

FYI, nose bleeds are always my first sign that I'm pregnant.

We're praying for you in the coming weeks, please pray for us too! We are very much looking forward to adding this 9th little blessing to our family!

Get your blood pressure checked. I had PIH with my child and had terrible nose bleeds until I got my blood pressure under control.

I am right there with you, just a little farther behind...32 wks. I am measuring almost term though, so that only adds to the discomfort! I can identify with not doing pregnancy well! I am convinced my body is allergic to being pregnant. But this being our 4th, we obviously agree it is well worth the sacrifice. A dear mom of 8 recently sent me these quotes from Elisabeth Elliot. I thought they were so encouraging.

"Motherhood requires self-giving, sacrifice, suffering. It is a going down into death in order to give life, a great human analogy of a great spiritual principle."

(Let me be a Woman, p. 62)

"The process of shaping the child shapes also the mother herself. Reverence for her sacred burden calls her to all that is pure and good, that she may teach primarily by her own humble, daily example."

(The Shaping of a Christian Family, p. 99)

"A mother is a chalice, the vessel without which no human being has ever been born. She is created to be a life-bearer, cooperating with her husband and with God in the making of a child. What a solemn responsibility. What an unspeakable privilege - a vessel divinely prepared for the Master's use."

(The Shaping of a Christian Family, p. 98)

When I'm about to deliver, I always think of those about to leave this earthly life. There are so many similarities: not knowing the exact time, wondering if today will be the day, anticipating some pain, looking forward to a new life, etc.

Crystal, it's been quite a bit of time since I checked out your blog, so imagine my surprise to hear of your pregnancy. Perhaps I knew before and just forgot? In any case, how exciting! And you're just weeks away from holding that new little precious one in your arms. Wonderful!

We just found out this past weekend that we are finally expecting our second one, praise God. It is the answer to our prayers and the dearest desires of our hearts.

Hope everything else is well with you!

Hi, Skye! Nice to see you - I've been thinking of you recently and wondering how you were doing. Do you have a blog? I've missed keeping up with you since you left LJ. I bet Emma is so grown up now!

Congratulations, by the way! How exciting and what fun it will be for Emma to be a big sister!

Dear Crystal,

Wow, you are almost there!! May the Lord bless you through these last weeks.

With your nosebleeds and the anemia you had before (if I'm remembering that correctly?), have you talked with your doctor about this recently? My husband (a physician) recommends that you do - your doctor will probably recommend (if he/she hasn't done so already) to have your blood pressure checked, as well as get a blood count and a liver function test. Be sure to keep yourself and your little one healthy!!

Just wanted to give my two cents about the nosebleeds. Please discuss this with your midwife or doctor. From my own personal experience with my twin pregnancy, the nosebleeds preceded some very serious complications for me and the babies. Please take the lady's advice (with the husband physician) and get your BP checked, and blood, liver and kidney function too. Blessings.

Referring to the Vit C and iron deficiency, Vit C helps the body uptake iron.

All my pregancies were difficult, too. I was terribly sick with all of them--too sick to even move my head. 8 months of nausea with the first, and 4-5 months with the rest. The worst part of it is how the body deteriorates with so much bed rest. But then the joy comes with the delivery!
