Homemade beauty recipes

I was on your blog and noticed that you had tips for beauty on a budget. I thought I would share some cheap homemade recipes that I have used, and are so much fun to make.

SIMPLY BEAUTY FACIAL SRUB: 1 1/2 t. cornmeal, 1 teaspoon water, and 1 teaspoon honey. Mix well and allow to thicken for 1 minute. Scrub on face and neck- leave on for 15 minutes (or as long as you can). Then rinse with warm water.

DRY/DAMAGED HAIR TREATMENT: Spread mayo of any kind into hair, make a nice messy paste! Cover with a plastic bag and leave on for 30 min to an hour. Shampoo as you would normally. It really does work!

-Brandy

I thought some of you might enjoy me passing these along. If you have any great homemade recipes you use, please do feel free to share as well.

My favorite at-home scrub for hands, feet, elbows, knees ("Head and shoulders, knees and toes--" oops, sorry) is to mix plain white sugar with lemon juice - enough of each to make a paste. Just rub it around wherever you need softened, then rinse off. You may want to use a VERY gentle soap as you rinse, because you may be left sticky. But it does wonders - much better than any expensive commercial scrub.
