One day and counting!

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Isaiah 41:10
This is the special verse the Lord has given to me for the past two weeks and for this birth. I've repeated it over and over again and have felt such strength and peace in resting in God's upholding of me.

I landed some horrific intestinal bug last night which lasted for about 14 hours. (Food poisoning? End of the pregnancy? Labor preparation? I have no idea. Whatever it was, it was bad.) I was wondering if I was going to be able to be induced tomorrow after all at the rate I was going, but it looks like I'm on the mend and I am grateful. Now I'm just trying to replenish and rehydrate my body, rest, and tackle a few more things on my to-do list - like packing the hospital bags (It seems I'm the only one who waits until the last minute for these kinds of things!) and laundry. Oh and disinfecting our bathrooms now that I'm feeling better! :)

I'm not only thrilled to be at the end of this pregnancy and to be anticipating bringing a new little life into the world, I'm also excited because my older sister and her husband and my little niece just arrived back from Taiwan. I've not seen my sister and her husband for a year and I've never met my very first niece before. They are going to be coming up a few hours before I go to the hospital tomorrow and I can hardly wait! Almost too much excitement for one day!

Thank you again for your many prayers and encouraging emails to let me know you are praying. I feel as if I have a huge support team of cheerleaders surrounding me going into tomorrow. I am humbled and thankful. More updates soon, I must go tackle the to-do list.

Hmmmmmmmmm. That stinks about the intestional thing. At least you are feeling better now. Is there a chance that could even be a sign your body is getting ready to go into labor on its own? That happened to me a few hours before my daughter was born. It is common because your body is flushing itself out before it is time to push the baby out.

Don't worry; I never think to pack the bags until I'm in labor. And last time we were about to get in the car to drive to hospital (as I was laboring) only to realize the infant car seat was still in storage! Oops! :)

How wonderful that you'll get to see your sister! Just looking forward to meeting a niece for the first time would keep me up all night!!

We're praying for you here too...though a bit jealous that you'll be seeing your little one tomorrow. : )

I hope that all goes well and we look forward to hearing good news tomorrow!

My thoughts were the same as Sarah L. Maybe ~ just maybe ~ your body is preparing itself to go into labor.

Whatever it was ~ praying you get your strength back quickly. And how exciting to see your sister tomorrow! That will certainly help keep your mind from worry and make the waiting go faster. :o)

I am very glad that you are feeling better, Crystal. I really do hope this is a pre-labor sign! Have you noticed anything else that might be signaling towards this? If it makes you feel any better, I packed my hospital bag just before we left for the hospital; I did not even think to make a list in case the homebirth went awry!

Please take care of yourself today and enjoy the time with your family. What a wonderful blessing to have your sister, brother-in-law, and niece there tomorrow! Knowing that the Lord has provided this opportunity for your family is amazing! Isn't it encouraging to witness how many moments of happiness can come through even the most stormy times in life? Our King is just incredible in the surprises he offers us and the way He works!

I thought maybe it was pre-labor stuff at first (and still hope that maybe it was), but it was so bad - I couldn't keep an oz. of water down - that I'm not so sure you usually get it so bad with pre-labor stuff. Anyone had an experience like that which was pre-labor?? It was honestly about the sickest I can remember feeling in a very long time. I'm just so grateful it only lasted 14 hours. I'm trying to drink a lot of water today so that I don't have to get IV rehydration before going into labor.

Oh and I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who waits until the last minute to pack hospital bags. I always seem to hear of people packing them weeks in advance so I was feeling rather behind to just be getting around to getting everything together. I did, however, make out a list last week so that in case I needed to go into the hospital early and only had a short time to pack, I knew everything I needed to get together! So I suppose you could say I was somewhat organized. :)

Oh dear, Crystal, your stomach bug doesn't sound like much fun - although, as the other posts say, it could be your body preparing for labour. Whichever, I hope you're feeling better now! I hope you have a great time with your sister and baby niece.

Take care of yourself - not long to go now.

Crystal, I am praying for you and thinking of you often this week. Isaiah 41:10 is a very special verse to me as well; it has seen me through various trials and is a great source of comfort. I pray God's blessings on you and your little one over the next few days.

Yes I waited to the last minute, literally, to back my bag. I was on my way to do this task, when my water broke. I was in such shock, this was my first child, that I had to call a friend to have her talk me through it- my husband was still at work. So I ran around the house, okay waddled, with a towel in my pants to soak up the gushing water and tried to get my bag ready. That was stressful!

I hope that it was your body preparing for labor also and that you feel all rested up, don't try to get too much done before, it is just things and you need all the strength you can get! One thing I would pack, just in case your body does not want to go into early labor, it can take awhile, so bring something to do!

Crystal,

I'm praying too, from up here in Alberta, Canada. I'll be working for much of the time, but I'll take you, Jesse, Kathrynne, the baby, and your extended family to the Lord in the morning and whenever I can afterwards.

Bless you! You encourage me so much!! :)

Not too long now :). You'll do great and God will be with you (and hubby too, my husband is my lifeline, second only to God, in my labors). Just keep thinking about that little baby you hold under your heart now, he/she will be in your ARMS soon :)!!!
My first was induced with pitocin and it really wasn't that bad. They gave me a shot for pain but looking back now I realize that I didn't really need it, I just let them talk me into thinking I needed it ;). I have gone med-free for the last two of my four births so I do have something to compare it to.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may you feel His face shining upon you and be filled with His peace. You have many, many people praying for you Crystal :)!
