Pictures... finally!

Thank you for your patience in waiting for pictures. I've been moving a little slow here and just taking it easy, trying to recover, and enjoying being a mama to two precious little girls. Our families all left yesterday morning and we were released from the hospital this afternoon, so we are home as a family and having fun learning how to juggle two littles by ourselves. (I know, I know, for those of you with five or eight children, that must sound funny!)

So far, being a second-time mom has been much easier and I'm loving sharing Kaitlynn with her big sister. Kaitlynn is doing wonderfully, nursing like a champ, and sleeping well. We're smitten with her!

My recovery is going well, inspite of a few minor hiccups. I'm not one of those women who jumps right up after having a baby, but I definitely feel that I'm recovering more quickly this time around. I am guessing that not hemorrhaging and pushing for two minutes as opposed to an hour and a half like last time have greatly contributed to this. My hemoglobin is still very low and we've had a few other issues, so I'll be taking it easy for awhile, but I am so grateful to be doing as well as I am.

And now, for a few pictures...

Taken just minutes after her birth. The exhausted but thrilled family.

Daddy's little girls.Taken yesterday. A very proud big sister.

Taken today. Kathrynne couldn't be more excited about Kaitlynn. She calls her "my baby" and can hardly let her out of her sight.
Matching hair bows. (We let Kathrynne wear one of Kaitlynn's bows!)
Kathrynne has said some of the sweetest things about Kaitlynn. She is constantly saying things like, "She is so beautiful." or "I love my tiny baby's hands." It melts our hearts to see the two of them together!

Crystal,

She is just beautiful! Both of your little girls are! We started our family with two girls in a row too and it has truly been a blessing. They are close (most of the time) and I am so so blessed by them. May you be too!

Warmly,
Kate

Rejoicing with you all! I enjoyed looking at all of your photos. What a precious time! Continuing to pray for y'all.

I wanted to let you know that I just read your courtship story today (even though I've been visiting, well, mostly lurking for quite some time). It was a real blessing to me to read... especially at this point in our lives. I plan to let our eldest read it (at the appropriate time). But I wanted to thank you for sharing it. It was a real blessing to read.

The baby (and your oldest) is just beautiful! Congratulations! Just found your blog a few weeks ago and have been following your pregnancy and birth. It's wonderful to hear that the Lord was gracious in watching over you all during the delivery. All I can say is "you go girl!" I can't believe you made it through drug-free! I was deep breathing just reading about your experience. hee hee I never went in to labor on my own with either one of my children, had my water broken both times, which did the trick, but as you know results in insane contractions. I was calling for the epidural once those intense pains started! :-) Wonderful that you were able to make it through drug- free!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures! Both girls look so precious sitting together and Katherine is obviously in love with her new sister! I know how nice it is to go home after a hospital stay and be in your own surroundings again. It is quite a change to go from one child to two, as my husband and I just dealt with that a couple months ago. Trust me, it does get easier after a few weeks and eventually it becomes old hat, even though things are busier with two children to take care of. Rest and bask in the joy!

Kaitlynn looks perfect--it's hard to believe that she was early at all, since she appears to be well filled out and a great, healthy size. What a blessing! I'm sure Katherine was so excited to meet her sister after such a long, exhausting day of waiting. Isn't it nice to have all the birth behind you now and be able to just enjoy your baby? I hope you are feeling stronger in the next couple days. Don't forget to drink plenty of fluids! :-)

Crystal,
Boy you were pale after Kaitlynn was born! The baby is so cute and it is adorable that Kathrynne calls her "my baby". Glad the switch over to a Mommy of two has been so easy for you. Rest as much as you can. I had someone tell me after I had mine that if you don't get enough rest right after birth you can spend months exhausted and trying to catch up. TAKE IT EASY! I think the whole sibling jealousy thing is such a myth and the only reason that some kids take it up is because they hear adults talking about it.
Thanks so much for the pictures.
God bless you and your little family. Oh btw, does Kaitlynn sleep well at night?
Love,
Jennifer K.

Thanks for taking time to post the pictures. :) Enjoy resting with your new baby (isn't resting to recover from the birth so much more fun than resting because of a difficult pregnancy?!) and taking it easy... Very precious pictures! Thank you so much for taking the time to post them! Kathrynne is making a wonderful big sister!

You are very wise to take it easy after giving birth. Even though most of my births for the last four (we have six and now have another on the way!) have been normal, no fuss births. I still took it easy, as much as I was able to. With number three, I was up a bit quicker just due to having three little girls ages 3, 14.5 months and a newborn.

Enjoy your recovery time, as I know you will, and please keep us posted on your health issues.

Praying for you,
Theresa

Just think--last week at this time you were getting ready for the birth, and now that's all over and done with and you have a gorgeous baby girl to show for it.
