This girl has spunk!
Okay, so I just have to ask: When did your babies start rolling over?
I thought most babies didn't roll over until they were a few months old, but not our Kaitlynn. Yes, that's right, at 2 1/2 weeks old, the girl started rolling over yesterday. And no, we're not talking about a fluke accident, or that she was positioned just right. At first we thought that must have been the case. But she consistently rolls from her tummy to her back every time we put her on her tummy - and this was on the floor, not on the bed or on an incline. Today she started trying to roll from her back to her tummy and made it halfway over.
Uh-oh! I guess my days of being able to lay her in one spot and not worry about her going anywhere are fast coming to an end. That was certainly short-lived!
In other baby news, should I divulge how many changes of clothes we've been through between the two girls today already? No wonder larger families do more laundry! I think it multiplies times four when you go from one to two children. Gratefully, we're not even talking about Kathrynne having any accidents since she has pretty much gotten over her whole forget-about-being-potty-trained-because-we-have-a-new-baby syndrome (tell me she's not the only child who has suffered from this!). No, it was Kaitlynn leaking through every diaper we've put on her (I'm just about ready to pull out the cloth diapers - but she's still too small for them!) and then, just as we got her cleaned up and changed for the third time in a row, Kathrynne accidentally dumped over her carrot/apple juice and managed to get it all over her new outfit and the floor. The adventures are just beginning!

Pretty neat about Kaitlynn turning over already!
At least with little clothes you can get more in a washing machine!
My first son rolled over at two weeks as well. I thought it was a fluke thing, but every time I put him on his tummy, he rolled over. I could not put him in the craddle anymore because being my first, I did not know that there was a pin to stop the craddle from swinging. So when he started turning over and he was in his craddle, he would send the craddle rocking. In the crib he went. I did not know about the pin in the craddle until my second child. My other two children did not start turning over until about 1 1/2 mths to 2 months.
Crystal, my second daughter rolled over at 2 weeks and it wasn't a fluke, either. :-) It amazed me because I thought I had several more weeks of being able to leave her in one spot, walk away, and come back to her being at the same spot.
My question is: has Kathrynne tried to pick her up by herself yet?
My babies certainly weren't rolling over at 2 weeks! You're right, your girl's got spunk. As to the laundry, it's an ongoing challenge but with you stellar homemaking skills I'm sure you'll figure out a great system. When you do, share it with the rest of us. We've got four kids and I'm still trying to get it right.
May I just say Wow!!!! My wee one is 5 months and has only been doing from tummy to back....hmm, shall I say...daredevil? Watch out!
As for the changes of clothes....I'm still trying to catch up. I have 3 now and it isn't easy..I don't have my own washers either:-/ However, my parents plan on giving me there apartment sized ones when they move...Yippee!!!
Happy baby raising!

Sounds like you are adjusting well though in spite of all the normal mom difficulties!
My baby could not roll over that early, but he was so curious about what was going on around him that from the time he was 3 days old he could hold his own head up and look around. He was definatly not my cuddly child as any attempt to cuddle him would mean he would miss something going on around him! LOL
My son rolled over when he was less than a week old. However, as he was a very good eater (he gained back his birth weight in less than a week) he rapidly put weight on and a short time later he was no longer able to roll over! Then he started rolling over again a few months later.
WoW! I've been off-line since 6/15 (we bought our 1st house and got moved in...we're in the country & getting internet took a little time) so I was SOOO excited to catch up on all the on-goings with your beautiful lil' girl. Congratulations!!
Anyway, my youngest just turned 5 and she has always "had spunk". Look out! If Kaitlynn is starting now, there is only more to come! :-) My daughter rolled over early and by about 7 mo's she was JUMPING out of her crib! She's been in a todder bed since (at least she's little so she still fits :-)) lol
On the laundry front...my daughter had reflux and would spit up tons at each feeding - she still gained weight - but she and I were soaked. We changed after every feeding - I was started to think I should just feed her in the tub :-). So...I understand the laundry issue. I just made sure to do at least one load per day. Even now, at 5, she thinks she needs to change clothes 2 or 3 times a day!
Peace!

Children are interesting- observing the different rates and speed they acquire new skills. My oldest held his head up the day he was born and was rolling all over the place in a few week.
My younger one took forever. But know they are happy healthy and very physical 11 and 12 year olds.
Two weeks old? Wow! I believe my oldest son was 5 or 6 months old before he did any rolling over. Of course, he weighed 10 lbs., 5 oz. at birth, and I think he was just too heavy to even give it a try! I know what you mean about the laundry. I didn't see much of an increase with our first born, but when the second one arrived, our laundry quadrupled!
You could try putting on a disposable AND a diaper wrap, mine leaked through the size "N" as well.
Brings back precious memories and thoughts of how children are uniquely similar yet so intricately individual. God is good. Kiss the wee ones for me. :-)
My DS rolled over for the first time at 1 1/2 weeks, but like a previous commenter, he started putting on weight quickly and stopped for a while (in fact, he was/is such a champion nurser, he never lost any birth weight!).
I recently read online somewhere that it's not too unusual for mewborns to do that; it can be a reflex similar to the breast crawl. Seems like some babies, though, continue to do it right from birth (roll, not crawl).
I remember my brother rolling over at 4 days old, it wasn't just a one time thing either!
Wow, I had never heard of a baby rolling over at that age!! :) You won't be able to let her sleep on your bed if you're not right there... something I did frequently when my babies weren't able to move... :) Actually, neither of my two rolled over more than once or twice in their whole babyhood days... they just never did. They sat, and then scooted/crawled, and then walked... but never that rolling-everywhere stage that some mothers talk about. :)
Ah, the laundry... Eliyahu was such a messy nursling, I think I changed my shirt at nearly every feeding! :O
Both of mine did that too, they both held their heads up right after birth too then dd (my second one) walked at 8 months. According to our doctor it is really not that rare and sticks out when it happens because we are not expecting it to happen so soon.
Yep, my laundry doubled with number two too as did our grocery bill as they got older (ds at six can eat as much as I do and dd at 3 can eat almost as much as I do too!) But I sure am glad I am past that diaper stage!
Wow, that's amazing! Mine never rolled that early, though, of course they were all much bigger and have lots more mass to move. ;)
There will definately be more days ahead when life just seems like a fog of poopy diapers (doesn't that make a lovely mental picture!) and clothing changes, but those will pass, and you already know it's all worthwhile.
My youngest son amazed all the nurses when they were trying to clean him up and weigh him at the hospital and he kept rolling over. He rolled over about 4 times on his first day. Guess he knew about his daredevil brother and sister that was waiting at home for him!
My son rolled over a lot the first few days after he was born. He held his head up from the get-go also. But then he nursed like a fiend for weeks, er, months, and got really fat and stopped rolling over until he was about 5 months old.
As for the laundry, have you looked into cloth diapering your kids? Those were the only things that could hold in the prolific BF baby messes.
Don't worry. I was told that I rolled over at that age, too, and I turned out normal. ;-D
My first born spat up constantly, so I was always changing our clothes. If it's not one end, it's the other, lol.
My mother always used cloth diapers and folded them down in the back for a girl and in the front for a boy until they fit right. It made it thicker, but it worked and saved the cost of disposables.
Hope this helps.
