A fun family Saturday
As some of you know, my husband resigned from his position at a local firm this summer and we're in the process of charging ahead with our long-term dream of starting our own law firm. Add this new adventure to my husband being gone at an Alliance Defense Fund training conference all week two weeks ago, our other business exploding through the roof (Thanks to you all!), and the fact that I'm a mommy to two little girls, life has been just a little bit on the busy side recently.
So, my husband decided Saturday that it was high time we took the day off. Instead of our usual Saturday chores and work, He whisked us off early in the morning for a fun family day!
Our first stop was the Victorian Trading Company outlet store. We spent a nice long time admiring some beautiful things, even though I know I just recently talked about not window shopping. It was a feast for the eyes, but I was happy to exit the store with no bags in tow. Though, I confess if I had the extra money, I would have bought up this cuter-than-cute miniature piano:
We then stopped at a local cafe to split an entree and salad. (Don't all frugal families split meals when dining out?!)
Here Daddy explains about primary colors and how by combining them, you create new colors.

We'd heard good things about this place and wanted to check it out. Apparently, we weren't the only ones who wanted to check it out, though, as the place was packed! We had a fun time, though, despite the tremendous Kansas wind and the crowds of people.

cute photos and an adorable family, I don't see how you do it all--do you think when your girls are older and you are "homeschooling" them will you have to slow down???
Crystal, I'm not sure you remember me but I took an extended break from visiting blogs and I'm now back! I'm so glad that you had a fun Saturday with your family!

Crystal, This must be the news you were referring to earlier in the summer about family plans in transition. I am glad to hear that the Lord is continuing to bless you. As the scripture says, we rejoice when one rejoices and we weep when one weeps. (my paraphrase totally!!) What sweet pictures of your girls at the farm. Blessings to you and yours as you endeavor to please Him along this journey called life.
Love, Pamela from Oregon

It is wonderful you have so many beautiful photos of your little family!! They grow up in a flash and you will treasure these even more in years to come!! I only wish we had had such great cameras in our day!!
That sounds like a lovely day indeed!
You have such a beautiful family!!!!
I can't believe how big Kathrynne and Kaitlynn are getting!
First, your photos are adorable. Those are some gorgeous girls you have. Second, it's great that your business is doing so well. Lastly, thanks for the link to the Alliance Defense Fund. I'd never heard of them and it's good to know there are competent legal minds out there defending our rights to free speech and religious liberty. Bravo to your husband for fighting the good fight.
Looks like so much fun!
I'm really interested to see how the law firm things go. You must be married to a visionary man. ;)
Mine wants to be a real estate mogul and is well on his way. :D
Crystal,
Glad to see you enjoyed your family day. We try to do one once every couple months and they are always "frugal fun"! My husband started his own business less than a year ago. I was so nervous! But we serve and awesome God and our business is thriving too. My husband loves going to work now!! Oh, and a side note. My kids have that piano. It was a Christmas gift from Grandparents. I don't know how much the one was you saw but they are about half the price at Costco.com from everything else I have seen!
I think you mentioned a while back that you would be selling Passionate Housewives: Desperate for God in your bookstore. Any idea when they will be available?
Dear Crystal,
To cute! How old is Kaitlynn?
Melissa: I'm hopeful it will be available the end of this week. It's not back from the printers yet but should be in a few days -- we're anxiously awaiting it's arrival! Look for a special announcement early next week, if not sooner!
SoulsforChrist - she turned 4 months today! I can hardly believe it!
Beautiful pictures! I can understand about Jesse wanting to start his own law practice. My brother graduated from law school three and a half years ago, and he was so discouraged when he went to job interviews to find out that everyone wanted him to work at least 60 hours per week for like $40,000 per year. He decided to start his own practice instead, and is doing great. He doesn't even have a secretary in order to to cut overhead even further (his wife, my sister is law, helps some), and uses his cell phone pretty much like a business phone. He does rent an office space, and even has a web site. Anyway, good luck in your endeavor. It can be done! Valerie
theres something for you on my blog
You have a beautiful family. You are so very blessed.
Kathrynne's boots are so fabulous!
It looks like such a fun day!
I simply LOVE how in the first picture of "Mommy and her two girls," you can see that you and Kathrynne have the exact same smile. ;-)
You and Jesse are so richly blessed! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Crystal,
It is such a blessing to see a young family serving the Lord. I am always encouraged by the tid bits you share about being your husband's help meet in his vision for your family.
Take Care,
Trixie
