Film Festival Recap #4

If you missed the first three parts of this series, you can read them in order here, here, and here.

The church service didn't begin until 10:30 a.m. for which we were grateful for after a late night (er, early morning). We managed to get up and around and make it to the service with about two minutes to spare.

After the service, we were invited over to the Mantuefel's house by the Seargeant family (whom our family has affectionately dubbed "the tent family" because, yes folks, they really and truly do live in a tent!). We were so humbled and amazed at the hospitality of people in San Antonio! They opened up their homes and hearts to us freely - when they didn't even know us!

Engaged in lively conversation about something or other - maybe it was our idea about the Seargeants' expanding and buying a two-story tent?! ;)

We had a truly wonderful afternoon of fellowship with kindred believers. After years of often feeling as if we are living in a desert land with the various places the Lord has temporarily landed us, Jesse and I felt as if we were sponges just soaking up the rich fellowship. Our heart-felt thanks to the Mantuefels, Horns, and Seargeants for blessing us so much with their gracious hospitality.

Kathrynne had a blast playing tea party in the little playhouse the Mantuefels have in their backyard.

Kaitlynn, on the other hand, spent most of the day sleeping! All the excitement from the past few days was just too much!

We left the Manteufels around 6:00 p.m. and headed back to our hotel to pack up. Caught a few hours of sleep and then headed for the airport for our flight bound for home.

What an eventful and wonderful weekend it was. We were so grateful that the Lord worked it out that we could attend the Film Festival and are already planning to make it to the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp and the Film Festival in 2008.

It is always good to have fellowship with like minded believers. We find when we are feeling a little burnt out it is because we have been doing too much ministering and not enough is getting poured into us! That may seem selfish, but we all need it! We are blessed to have a wonderful family about an hour away that we take time to get together with. They always refresh us! Conferences like you went too can always refresh our spirits!

Crystal, your comment about sometimes "often feeling as if we are living in a desert land" really struck my heart! I feel like that many, many times - in my church and in my family. I am praying that the Lord will send a like-minded sister to cross my path.

Crystal, I've so enjoyed your story of the Film Festival. My husband and I would enjoy attending in the future. Just a question out of curiosity, I went and looked at all of the pictures from the Festival that you linked to. Dr. Nicky Chavers and his daughter Nicole were pictured at the podium (4th line down, 1 pic). Do you remember what they were doing there? I used to be very close with their family and I had no idea that they were associated with Vision Forum. Don't worry -- there's no hard feelings there. Us (the kids) have all gone on with our lives and have not kept in contact like we should. I would just be interested in what they were doing there. Thanks!
