Frugal Friday: Ebates?

Instead of giving a frugal tip this week, I am soliciting advice. Have any of you used Ebates before? If so, what was your experience?

We don't do a whole lot of online shopping but we do some and I thought something like Ebates might be worth checking into if it was worth the extra effort.

If you've had experience with this or similar online programs, could you share with us about it? I'm always looking for new ways to save money!

Oh and if you're looking for some frugal tips from me, I posted on how to keep meat from breaking your budget over on Money Saving Mom.

I did sign up for Ebates, but haven't used it too much because I don't order too much on line. At least one time when I did go throuh Ebates to order something I didn't get credit. But, I still think its a great site and would recommend it.

Hi Crystal,

I've been very pleased with Ebates. I signed up for Ebates when planning my wedding and have been delighted to recieve cash back for stuff I needed to buy anyway. I used it for buying almost all our Christmas gifts, too.

I wrote all about my experiences with Ebates and all the details and particulars in a post last year. You can read it here.

Take Care,

Trixie

I like Ebates We don't do a lot of online shopping either, but if I do it is almost always through them.

You get a percentage back for most places you shop. The % varies for each store. They send you a check quarterly. So there is some wait involved in reaping your savings, but it is nice to get the check in the mail too. They also list coupons and special deals for the merchants.

The biggest drawback is it can be hard to search for your item and price compare through their site. Often I will do that work before then go to ebates, check the rebate
%, and then make my purchase.

You also can earn for referrals. Ebates
this link is for my referral and will get you a $10 sign up bonus until November 15th.

I've used Ebates for several years. You need to make sure that you shop through the Ebates site. In other words, if you want to shop Land's End, follow the link from Ebates.com and then do your shopping. Checks are sent out quarterly and only if you exceed a certain amount ($10 maybe?); otherwise, it just rolls over. And you usually will get a $5 bonus for referring someone, once they make their first purchase.

I AM a member of ebates. I'm also a huge online shopper, because I simply don't have time for driving and shopping. So, if I'm going to shop online at Target (a favorite of mine) why not get money back? It's free to join, and depending on the store, I get coupons or a percentage of the purchase back. No skin off my nose, and money in my pocket.

I started doing eBates earlier this year. I just recently hooked it to my paypal account. I haven't collected any money yet, but have about $16 so far. I think they pay every 3 months, so I hope to see that money in my PP account soon.
It is very easy to do. You go there first, before heading to any place on line you want to shop. I use them for Joanne Fabrics and Staples, for example. A percentage of the money I spend goes into the account. Let's say I spend $100 at Joanne's (I wish!) and it's 4% cash back. I'll see $4 in my eBates account in a few days. It is totally free and easy to do. You start at eBates and then do a search for your on-line store. It automatically keeps track of the store and what you spend. Very easy! But again, I haven't seen my money from it yet. I didn't verify my e-mail address, so that's probably half the cause. BTW, you don't have to do it via Paypal. You can get a check in the mail, too!

I would like to join in on the Frugal Friday fun. So here goes my post.........

I exercise inexpensively by buying Leslie Sansone videos/ dvds. Her videos are expensive, but you can catch the older versions at a discounted price. She does have some workouts with christian music and that's what I love the most is to workout to christian based music.

I love her routines because they are simple. There are only about four different moves and she just builds some on each move.
You don't get tangled up trying to figure out what comes next.

That's pretty much how I exercise inexpensively. If you would like to see her videos, visit her website at www.lesliesansone.com

Crystal, I had posted earlier as number 14, but please take this one off your list because it doesn't link to my blog. I was in too much of a hurry before time to go to work and made a big goof. Sorry!!

Thanks,

Pumpkin
