Day 1 of the Challenge

Thanks so much to everyone who has left encouraging comments and participated in the "Making Your Home a Haven" Challenge so far. I don't know about everyone else, but just browsing your posts has left me very inspired!

Here's what I did today for the Challenge (in between taking care of the needs of the little people here!):

Aren't these loose tea leaves just beautiful?

I brewed some organic loose leaf tea and then sat down and read Psalms 63 and 64. I've been slowly working my way through the Psalms the last few months.

After reading, I copied a verse that was a special encouragement to me in my journal and then spent a few moments dedicating my day to the Lord and praying that I could be a good steward of it.

Over more tea, I made out a list of five things I am purposing to do first thing every morning.

Morning Routine:

-Get up, spend time in God's Word and prayer, write in my journal
-Exercise (Right now my goal is to do Pilates and stair-stepping for 30 minutes every week day.)
-Shower and get dressed to my shoes (Thanks to FLyLady's encouragement, I've learned to love wearing shoes.)
-Start a load of laundry.
-Spend 15 minutes with Jesse.

(Photo taken by my two-year-old, Kathrynne. She did a pretty decent job, eh?)

I then turned on some Christmas music, put my apron on (apron compliments of Marie-Madeline Studio. Isn't it cute? We're giving one away here tomorrow - don't miss it!), and got to work in our entryway.
Our entryway is pretty simple and bare, but the floor really needed a cleaning, as did the baseboards. Then it was a quick shake of the front rug and we were done.

I didn't get to do the challenge today because my hubby had me running errands for his business, but I plan on catching up tomorrow! I am so excited. I already see so many things that I can change to make our home a haven. I love your apron too! I need more aprons. It is like putting on a pretty uniform. It gets me in the frame of mind to clean and yet if it is cute you don't feel so frumpy! You are lovely in it.

Hello Crystal,

What a pretty apron! Kathrynn did a great job on the photo; you have a pint sized professional photographer in the family.

Blessings,

Thanks so much for this challenge....the past two weeks I was doing just the bare essentials to keep the house clean, and it showed. So I spent the entire day going room by room, cleaning and scrubbing. I didn't tell my husband what I was doing, but you know what? It was the first thing he noticed when he got home. He said the house looked really nice.
