"Schedule? What's that, Mom?"
Well, isn't this just how life works sometimes? The day I mention our schedule and some of you comment about how nice it is to have little ones napping in the afternoon is the day that both girls go on a napping strike.
Finally, out of desperation, I pulled out the playdough. And this is now how my kitchen floor looks:
Gratefully, we did somehow manage to finish everything on the schedule, I just didn't get my usual hour or two of afternoon quiet time. Oh well, flexibility is what mothering is all about, isn't it?
I'm off to do playdough damage control!

Yeah this is more like my daily affair. My Peanut, bless her heart, undoes whatever I do. Just yesterday she took our bag of shredded documents, and this was a big garbage sized bag, dumped it on the floor and proceeded to dive in. I let her play for a few minutes and then it was time to clean. She also emptied my pantry... The list goes on. But I see little snippets of her picking up mommy's organized ways. She lines up her hair pretties, and alphabet cards and things.
She does know when it's time for tea though. She clears off that kiddie table faster than you can say "What?".
Just a day in the life of a mom of a toddle ;)
Cute picture. I should've taken one.
YIKES!!!! I hate the mess that play dough makes!!!!

ooooh I love that pick--I am a big believer in "organized chaos" Let them have their time now and then to get messy:) Its a growing adventure.
Sometimes I simply pull a chair up to my kitchen sink and give my kids empty squeeze bottles, measuring cups, spoons etc.--It occupies them for it least an hour. When they are done, I simply grab a big towel and clean up the water around them, strip them out of their wet clothes and put them in some fresh ones.
But hey I got 45-60 min of uninteruppted time for the price of 10 minutes of clean up! They had a priceless moment with water fun!
It was nap strike day in the great northwest today, too. My 10 1/2 month old too one 1 hour nap today. Usually he sleeps for 3 hours. I guess it was just one of those days.
That's so cute! I applaud you on starting your playdoh adventures with a clean floor. Much easier to clean up!
I hope you have a recipe for "play dough". Then you can just sweep it up and be done with it. I like the water sports. Another fun activity is shaving cream on the kitchen table. It makes for great finger painting fun and just wipes up off of table, floor, and kids.
Oh Crystal, I can totally sympathize. The day I say, "Wow, I'm finally getting into a good schedule!" is the day the babies decide to fight their naps and the whole schedule tries to fly out the window. I think the little ones must really like keeping me on my toes! Ah well, we live to organize another day. :)
This picture reminds me of my babysitting days. :) Curiously, I can hardly wait for the day when *my* little ones litter *my* kitchen floor with playdough. Ahh, a girl can dream... ;-)
Ugh, I hate playdoh. You are amazing to get everything done amongst the chaos kids cause. Good job!
Oh Play-doh!! I can't tell you how many times my kitchen florr has looked the same way for the same reason!
