Making my home a haven on Monday

I skipped out of posting on making my home a haven last week since we were celebrating Kathrynne's birthday that day. This week, I'm afraid I also don't have any great pictures to show for our Monday work either, despite the fact that we did get a lot of things accomplished. I guess we were too busy working to remember to take pictures!

We pretty much followed our normal schedule, with little exception yesterday. Our one exception was that I was able to get a lot more done than usual. Why? Because Jesse's 14-year-old sister, Lisa, is staying with us this week!

I'm realizing just how much help an extra pair of hands can be. What normally takes me a few days to get done cleaning-wise, we tackled in two hours. I was literally running out of jobs to give Lisa to do and our cleaning time wasn't even up. It makes me eagerly look forward to the day when my own daughters are 14. (Though I also want them to stay small forever, too!)

Here was our to-do list for the day:We finished almost all of this minus one bathroom cleaning and a few loads of laundry. Plus, Lisa did quite a few extra jobs for me--those jobs that I never seem to find time to get to, like dusting nooks and crannies, wiping down the washer and dryer, and so forth.

Kathrynne helped me grind some flour for fresh bread. It was such a beautiful day (68 degrees, can you believe? And it's supposed to snow today. That's Kansas for you!) so we took the mill outside.

Lisa also helped Kathrynne do some fun crafts, which she enjoyed so much!

We hit the grocery store in the afternoon and you can see our $35 shopping trip here. Thanks to Lisa's help, we were able to get in and out of two stores and have all of our grocery shopping done in an hour!

Hopefully next week I'll have a bit more details and pictures to share, but I hope you enjoyed a small little glimpse into our day!

I usually read over at money saving mom and popped over here to look around. I just wanted to give you a heads up that when I followed the "home" link to biblewomanhoodonline.com it came up with a nice hacked message.

Adrienne: Thanks! People kept mentioning that yesterday and I couldn't figure out where it was since everything was showing up find on my end but you led me to the correct link so I could fix it. Thanks and sorry about that. My web designer is fixing some issues we've been having with robot hacks. Ugh!

Mrs. Paine,

I noticed on your to-do list that you had written down "grind flour/make bread". We're looking into buying a flour grinding mill, in order to attain more nutrition, and we were wondering what you use for this, and what you could recommend. Thank you so much for your help!

By the way, I just posted on my blog a recipe for some really, really great and very healthy whole wheat bread. When you have time, you may want to go check that out! :)

Blessings,
Rebekah

Crystal - love your notepad with its admonition to have your tea first. :-) Totally in keeping with your Haven series.

Can you send Lisa to my house next? *chuckle* Sounds like she was a definite asset! Congrats on all you got done.

Rebekah: My dad bought it for me for Christmas. It's a Blendtec KTEC Kitchen Mill. So far, I've been very pleased with it.

Wow Crystal! That is an awesome to-do list--with everything checked off! Sounds like you have a great little sister-in-law.

I ran into a hacked page for a couple of days a week back or so,too.
