A-hoppin' and an interview
I'm in the thick of garage sale preparations (we open bright and early tomorrow morning!), putting the finishing touches on a presentation I'm giving tomorrow at the Ultimate Homeschool Expo (I'd love to have you join us if you're already registered for the event!), and gearing up for The Total Money Makeover Live Event this weekend (woohoo!) so things are a-hoppin' around here and I'll probably not be around much the next few days. For those of you who might be interested, Mrs. Wilt was kind enough to interview me on her blog for her A Month of Cheerful Thrift series. I share lessons my parents taught me on wise stewardship, strategies for keeping your grocery budget low, a few book recommendations, and more. Click here to read the full interview. Enjoy and a big thanks to Mrs. Wilt for the opportunity to share!

I'm working on a garage sale too! We'll be open for business tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Thanks so much for your blog ~ so much encouragement here. I'll go check out the interview at Mrs. Wilt's. I've been at her lovely blog before as well.
Blessings,
Katie
Crystal,
I enjoyed reading the interview. It is obvious from your comments (especially in the end) where your heart's desire really lies, and for Whom. I especially appreciate the reminder to me about being cheerful and thankful and generous while at the same time working so hard to do what we do.
God bless you, sister!

I'd love to join the homeschool event but $40 is a lot of money to us right now. I know there are lots of things to make it more than worthwhile at that price. I hope you have a great time!
Ya know, I think that's the first time I've seen a pic of your husband. You all are a great looking family.
My husband and I are driving from Wichita for the TMMO Live Event as well!!
I can't wait! :)
I hope your garage sale goes well!

Hey Crystal!
I can't really believe I'm even commenting on what I'm going to share, but hey...when I found out, I hadn't heard about it before and it really does work...so here goes..:)
I noticed in your post picture that your candle was probably just simply blown or snuffed out, is that correct? Did you know that when you extinguish your pillar candles, if you just take a minute to "press in" the melted wax around the edges to form a "new top" so to speak, the candle will actually burn better and longer the next time you burn it? (And if you happen to have quite a bit of 'sides' to press in, you can simply pull off the excess and form your new top from there) Rather than it slowly burning down the core of the candle, leaving those pesky sides to just sort of "do what they want", what you'll end up with is almost a fresh pillar candle each time. It really does only take about 30 seconds, and not only does it help the burning process next time and add life to your candle, but it looks much nicer in between burning as well.
So there ya have it! Not a comment with too much significance, but a fun little fact none the less.
Happy candle burning! :)
Love your God-given work, BTW...
~Kris
