Clear Out the Clutter: Day 1
Yesterday, in our Clear Out the Clutter Challenge, Kathrynne and I tackled the main floor of our home.
Our living room stays quite clutter-free and I'd recently gone through the coat closet, and the bathroom only houses a stash of Kleenex that I got a great deal on some months back, so the kitchen and above the washer/dryer area was our main focus.
I ended up going through every cupboard, clearing it out, and wiping things down with Basic G as I went. We also cleaned out the refrigerator, too.
And in case you're wondering about the very bare refrigerator--this was taken right before we headed to the store for our weekly grocery shopping trip!
And here's our final pile of clutter from the main floor--going straight to the garage sale pile. Yay!

Smart idea to clean out the fridge just before the "major" shopping trip! I usually forget....but when I remember it is such a breeze.
Wow, good for you! I have a hint for the vegetable drawers. Line them with a section of newspaper! If you do this, then next time you clean you can just throw out the paper with all the onion peels and dead grapes and such. I use one of my drawers for meat, and it helps with the juices that leak. Then it's just a matter of a quick cleaning, no scrubbing involved!
I didn't see a place to comment about Voddie Baucham but I wanted to let those who aren't near that location to know that this message can be heard online at his website http://www.voddiebaucham.org
Just click on podcast on the far right and scroll down to the bottom.
It is excellant and very high on my list of recommendations.
Either you or a reader commented on the book The 15 Minute Organizer. Well I ordered it from GraceWorks with my new planner and have been perusing it the past couple days. I have truly found it helpful!
With working F/T outside the home right now and then getting home and dinner and wanting to spend time with Chloe before bed (7pm) and of course time with my spouse, I've wondered how I will get anything done.
The book recommended breaking big tasks into 15 minutes a day and working on that. I've completed last years filing (yes I had a whole years worth of papers to file!!!) in the past week.
I feel so proud and motivated to continue and I am beginning to see that there may be hope for getting my home in shape before baby #2 arrives this summer.
:)
Wow, Crystal! That is an amazing refrigerator! You should be highly commended! I have sooooooooo far to go, but it was refreshing just to see yours! Baby steps, right?!
Hi Crystal! Great looking fridge with all those fresh fruits and veggies! I noticed your red-ruby grapefruit (I think that's what I saw)--my daughter Cassie LOVES that! I cut it up into chunks and they just eat and eat it...
Thanks to fruitfulmomma above for the info on the podcast. I have been wanting to listen to sermons/series on childrearing, home, marriage, etc while I iron or cook. Any more recommendations on such things?
Phebe
great motivation! i'm cleaning out for a yard sale--haven't had one in over 2 years so it's way past time! The kids are even cleaning out their rooms!
oh, and I love voddie bauchman's series on marriage! great podcasts to listen to while 'working'!
I was inspired today to hang up some things in our garage (for some reason) and when I came back upstairs, I found this blog! I forgot to take "before" pictures, but I do plan to take some "after" pictures and when I do, I'll be sure to post them! :)
So do you want to come over to my house and clean out my 'fridge? I've been avoiding that for several weeks now. I'm with you, I always think I should do it before I go shopping, when it is relatively empty, but then I forget. But seeing those pictures of a clean fridge motivates me!
Wow! That looks great! Your helper must be talented!
