Newsflash: She can walk!
After a few weeks of doing the prolonged standing and walking-while-holding-onto-your-hand thing, Kaitlynn worked up the courage to take those first few steps on Sunday night. Only one day shy of 13 months--yay, Kaitlynn! She has also mastered the art of climbing all the way up and down the stairs, flushing things down the toilet, taking everything out of almost all the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen in less than three minutes, and removing the books from the bottom two bookshelves in what seems like less than a blink of the eye.
She's a bundle of energy, a bundle of joy, and a bundle of giggles. And we're soaking it up!

My little girl started taking her first steps a couple of weeks ago and it is so fun to see the joy on her face when she has taken a few more.
I am right there with you in enjoying these moments... now I just wish I could capture them on video for my blog!
Way to go, Kaitlynn! How exciting!
Congrats, Kaitlynn! What a big girl you're getting to be!
I seem to raise late teethers and late walkers, so I think you're an absolute genius baby. : )
My youngest son Nate started walking about a month ago too, he was then 13 months old. He too loves flushing things down the toilet.....so it is nice to hear another going thru the same issues...I guess he is normal--giggle giggle
I have had many people comment on his ability to go up and down the stairs--but to me it is a safety issue. If he is going to do it, get them to do it well. So our whole family over the past few months would walk down the stairs on our hands and knees backwards just to teach him how to do it safely. It took no time for him to get the hang of it.
She looks adorable!
Delurking (ALWAYS A GRATEFUL READER!) to say congratulations and she is SO beautiful! What a sweetie!
How exciting! Enjoy it while you can!! :D
She is so precious, congrats! I have a 6 month old and I just cant even imagine when she starts walking what kind of trouble she will get into. :)
Congratulations, Kaitlynn!
My youngest is 12 months 2 weeks and he is the king of throwing things down the toilet and emptying book shelves. :)
That is soo cute!
You know what they say: When you hear FLUSH followed by "oops!" it is already too late!
in His peace,
Melody
Congratulations, Kaitlynn!
She is so cute. Do you have a picture of her walking. If you do I am sure we would all love to see it.

My youngest turned 1 a week ago and she is just starting to take steps. She's been gradually taking greater risks. She stands up the middle of the floor by herself and walks along in preference to crawling whenever she can. She just needs that last dash of faith to launch out. I agree it's such a precious time. I am trying to spend the time to really see my little girlie and enjoy her. I only get one chance! Then life moves on. I so enjoy your blogs. Thanks for all the encouragement.
She has grown so much! That is a fun milestone.:)
Adorable! Congratulations sweet Kaitlynn on your first few steps!
Congratulations Kaitlynn!
I remember how exciting it was when my kids started walking. Enjoy it!
She is a doll! I always feel like she looks just like you when I see her pictures!
So cute!! A real milestone for Kaitlynn!

Wow, she's so gorgeous! And she's growing up so quickly. She looks a lot like her big sister, with her beautiful blue eyes! :)
I can't believe it! My little niece is growing up so fast. I almost don't recognize her in the pictures. WOW! She's adorable. I am so looking forward to spending a week with her next month (and you, too, of course!).

PS. Tell Kathrynne that Auntie Gretchen will have to do "curly girl" on her hair...
Funny, I was just thinking today about Kaitlyn, and wondering if she was walking yet, but decided she must not be or else you would have said something about it! Then I come on here and this post! :)
Yeah! It is so exciting when they walk. I cried when my daughter took her first steps. I am sure I will do the same thing with my nearly 9 month old. He has already been cruising for almost a month. I think he will be a very active little boy.
She sounds just like my Amy Belle!! Amy was/is quite a bundle of energy! After calm little Cassie (my first), Amy about dropped my jaw with how fast she could empty every cupboard drawer, and do things like climb on the counters and pull out the knives--scary!! She is also SO funny and keeps us laughing--especially now that she can talk!
Congrats to Kaitlynn!
So fun! Wow -- she's growing up, isn't she?! So adorable, she is! :)
she's simply beautiful. lylah
