| The Right to Choose?
By Crystal Paine
There have been many different issues and thoughts raised regarding the "right to choose" discussion. For those who know me well, you know I believe abortion is wrong. Not only is it unbiblical, it is also unconstitutional.
But, I want to take this one step further and say that I believe the taking of a human life in the womb, despite whatever circumstance, is always sin. We can come up with a lot of different scenarios which one might think abortion would be permissible, but I don't think it is ever permissible, no exceptions.
Why? I believe that God is in control of every atom in the universe. He is a God Who can be trusted as the Sovereign Lord over everything. We can place our lives in His hands. He is the one Who gives life, sustains life, and takes life. He is trustworthy. Who are we to say that we know better than God? That we know that, by taking one life to sustain another life, we have made the right decision?
We live in a society where we are brain-washed to believe that I am the most important thing. That we need to constantly be looking out for "number one." Is this a Biblical concept?
Christ came to die a horrible death that all those who repent and believe on Him might be freed from eternal punishment. He came to set the example for us. We should also be willing to lay down our lives for another.
Personally, I cannot imagine living knowing that I destroyed my baby's life in order to save my own. What a terribly selfish thing to do.
I know that many of you could throw out a lot of situations (maybe some you know of personally) where you feel like abortion might be acceptable. But, did God give us an exception clause for this in His Word?
