Don't Settle For Anything Less

by Crystal Paine

CS Hayden had an excellent post yesterday about Conditioning Children to Conform.

Do you want to follow the well-worn path of conformity, or are you willing to join in the quest for principled, consistent living? The choice is yours, and as a great man once said, "Choose -- don't settle!" I have been burdened recently for the many young people I know who have been raised by Godly, Christian parents, and yet who are living lives which are not much different than the world. Oh yes, maybe they aren't pregnant out-of-wedlock, maybe they are not on drugs, and maybe they are not in detention centers, but is that our goal? So many times it seems like we allow the world to dictate our standards -- as long as our children are a little better, than they are okay. Are we happy to settle for less than the best?

I don't know about you, but we want to raise up children who will be warriors for the glory of God. We want them to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, to think Biblically, to confront this sin-darkened culture, to be radiant witnesses for the glory of God!

I've seen some very sad, sad situations recently of young people who are breaking their parents' hearts. It has caused me to pray a lot, to cry out to God for my own daughter, and to pray even harder for the young people I know.

If you are a young person, I urge you to consider how you are spending your life. Are you truly using each day as if it were your last? If you were raised in a Godly, Christian home, you especially are called to a high standard. Your parents have given of their lives to train you in righteousness and Godliness, are you honoring your parents by how you are living? We were blessed to hear an excellent sermon on Sunday about true wisdom. The man who preached talked about sowing seeds and the harvest you will reap. He left us with a question that I want to pose to you: What seeds are you sowing in your life? Are you sowing seeds of selfishness and worldliness?

You only have one life to live. Don't settle for anything less than God's best for your life.
